Hello,

i am doing some SEO test and i ranked a website for a client.
As i tried a different method, i didn't ask him to pay me (it was useful for me to experiment) but i ranked him on Google Page 1 for a brand new site, for a keyword that has 450.000 Global Monthly Searches (Broad) and 9.900 (Exact) with high competition.

He's asking me to rank more similar keywords but i need to give a right quote.

What would you honestly pay for that?

Thanks in advance,

FaBiz

I would be willing to pay $1,500 provided you keep the keyword there for 1 full year.

      Thanks for your opinion.
So do you believe it's fair to ask around $125 per month to keep it there?

If your client keyword competition would be high then you take more than $1000..

The one i ranked has 450.000 Global Monthly Searches (Broad) and 9.900 (Exact) with high competition. The others will be similar.

Do you mean more than $1000 per year for each keyword, correct?

      Thanks!

I think it is more dependent upon what the keyword is worth to your client. Most brick and mortar businesses pay more than that for a Yellow Pages entry that is worth far less.

If it is an IM guy, then it likely won't be as valuable.

The value of the keyword depends on how much the client will make from the traffic. 1st page is not that good for traffic. You need to get at least the 5th position to get some good traffic. I would not pay $125/month just to be on the 1st page. I would pay for positions 1-3.

I think it depends on the competition and how much time you will need to spend per month to rank the keyword. Figure out what you think your time is worth and how many hours you will need to spend each month and go from there.

Remember they are not only paying for your time but also software, knowledge, experience etc. so charge accordingly.

I should say at least $250 per month.. since you need to maintain the ranking in the search-engine for a long time (which is seriously not easy to do)

But $125 sounds reasonable thou, will be a good start if you're looking to learn and merely build up experiences..

    Hope this help,
    Jeremiah

    Thanks for all the replies.

It's important to give a proper value to this kind of work because yes, it involves many things: tools used, experience, research and it's a tough work to do.

I will try to charge a fair price as i don't like to ask more than what i would deserve.

For me 9,900 exact search a month wouldn't be worth much since I run adsense sites. If I was selling a product, it would be worth more.

Also there is a huge difference between page 1 and ranked #1. I wouldn't pay much of anything for just page 1 with those numbers. I'd have to be #1.

Why don't you make it for 1 full year.. Otherwise he could ask you to bring more pages of his website to 1st page.. And then it would be more hard for you to work on the websites to be on 1st place in google

What do you consider good in terms of Exact Monthly Searches for an Adsense site?

I should get an agreement where he has to stay at least 12 months then.
Will try to put that down and get a contract with him.

Bumping this because I have been scouring WF for an answer to this type of question, and haven't found a thing. And not to mention FaBiz could use the info as well.

Any experienced SEO's out there have an opinion on this?

        Thanks, guys!
