Google will update it automatically in the next few weeks.

You can try pinging it, however, google ultimately determines the description for your site, but optimizing your meta description is a googd way to push google in the right direction.

Google will revisit your site depending on how often is updated(among other things). If you use Wordpress make sure you Seo plugin works correctly and the description shows in the site source.

Google has indexed your old description, when Google would revisit your site, then it would be updated.

Google's spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index. Crawls are based on many factors such as Page Rank, links to a page, and crawling constraints such as the number of parameters in a URL. Any number of factors can affect the crawl frequency of individual sites.
