I have recently (mid feb) released a new site (my first for that matter) I launched the site with 10 articles of content, from these 10 articles the main keyword from each article got ranked in top google 200 withing a week or so. The highest one got ranked to at no.28

I have continued to add articles (unique), but now with those 10 articles all ranked keywords have dissapeared from google top 1000, except the kw that was ranked 28 (this is now ranked around 160)

So out of 10 ranked keywords only 1 is still ranked in google top1000. All pages is still indexed.

Not much linkbuilding is done at all to the site.

What i cant decide about is what reason this have happened.
  • Is it the so called google dance for new pages?
  • have the site got penalized or sandboxed?
  • does the content just suck and im completly bad at building pages?
The reason why im asking at all is, this is my first site. Im not sure when to let it go and while im still new i want to keep my head focused on few pages. So i dont really wanna start on something new until i get this one working, or not working.

So any ideas what the msot likely reason for this to happen would be appriciated.

The most possible reason could be your site got sandboxed coz its new. You may have to wait for couple of weeks before it reappears in search results.

OK, if this would be athe case that its sandboxed only because it's new, should i still keep addind content and start with backlinking?

Yes, the best you can do is keep up adding new content and start building backlinks.

When your site is new Google kind of gives it a grace period for a week or two. Letting your articles rank decently while it decides on where it should be. Then boom everything disappears. Build steady links, and keep at it. I launched a site at the end of January, actually 3. They all ranked decently then disappeared, now they are all starting to come back strong. Especially my one, so give it time and keep working hard.

I agree with the above poster. It's called "Query Deserved Freshness" QDF for short.

Yeah, you will be dancing for awhile, nothing to worry about. Nice site, and for your first site, that's a good resource. But 2 quick important suggestions:

      1: I see you have:
<meta name="description" content="Tig, Mig and Stick welding are the most common used welding methods today. Information about all things related to welding will be found here."/>

      I DO NOT see

      <meta name="keywords" content="keyword1,keyword2,keyword3, etc" />

... on either your homepage or individual blog posts. Fix this, it will help you rank better.

2: Don't add content too fast, 1 article a week is fine.

      Again, nice site.

I'd just keep building high quality backlinks to it. It's still new.

Google Honeymoon with new sites used to cause Google Dance but these days it is a roller-coaster. Even 10 year old sites are swooning one day and shooting up another. Big G's children are having fun with us mere mortals chuckling while smashing our dreams to smithereens.

What would it solve if I call your site problem one of these names:

    1- Sandboxed
    2- Penalized
    3- QDF
    4- Plain spamzilla

Your site has been faded into the blackness of serp darkness.
Google doesn't like your site right now anyway.
    Reason: Google is so complex.
