I think PR are not so important about SERP's . So you can choose this type of keyword where have no exat keyword in title, description,h1 tags etc. I'm also agree with @wpexplosion . Try to using Traffic Travis for check competition

Check out serpiq.com - though it's probably too expensive for light users. Good tool.

edit: oh they added a cheaper plan. Now everyone can use it!

There are lots of online tools are available on net for checking SERP which are paid as well as free. You should try with trial version. I am using I.B.P for checking SERP for my current pages. In this tool you can check ranking by particular search engine.

I used to use the SEO BOOK rankchecker but found it to be WAY off the mark when checking manually. I've found the SEO Spyglass 'Rank Checker' to be very good and very accurate. I only use the free version.

You can visit seoserp.com for checking you SERP ranking.

About your competitors having no keywords in their title and description, those things have a very less value or perhaps no weight at all when it comes to SERP rankings. So don't even think that you can beat them because they have not included their keywords in their titles and description.

Well, as far as my technique is concerned I generally check the SERP manually in order to get the most accurate results. But there are several tools available on web for checking the SERPs which you can use. Still I would like to advice that no tool is cent percent reliable.

Traffic travis is nice, but it is slow to get the results and after you check SERP for 2-3 keywords, it pretty much hangs for me.

Try out our new site in my signature. Not only is it fast, you can use your up/down arrow through your keywords to review the detailed top 10 results for each keyword without having to wait to pull the SERP results again.

We started work on the more extensive registered user version of our SERP check also. This will track and graph your 30 day results and allow you to save many domain/keyword combinations.

Did I mention it was free?
