I posted you website into the Google keyword tool and all the keywords your site is competing for rank for are very competitive and would be very difficult to rank for.

I'd say either go after some micro niches in that niche to get in less competitive keywords or get your traffic elsewhere and not depend on Google, which is what I do anyway.

In your main keywords now, you could work your tail off and/or spend a lot of time and money and still never get decent google ranking.

I would change the first page and post something else besides

"I am looking for people who have had experience within AA,NA and some kind of peer support programmes to display on this website. I want to know experiences and what made you use that method, basically selling it to someone as a product. If it worked for you it could work for someone else."

People coming to your site are seeking help, not to help you make money. I would remove this phrase altogether "basically selling it to someone as a product."

I would add a headline on that first page or an article title that hits home for your market. Need to get off drugs or something like that and then on the upper right corner above the fold where it now has advertise here, replace that with an opt on box for the people who come to your site with a compelling reason for them to sign up.

That way, you build a list and can continue to market to them and to help them.

Even if and when you do "everything right", trying to rank on page one for a highly competitive keyword is next to impossible and even if you get there, you will constantly be bumped off.

Stick with using the other methods of traffic generation and build a list.

I have a friend in Florida, who helps people get off drugs be getting into the rehab she and her husband used that finally worked. She gets a pretty good commission of $1500.00 for each person. All she does it respond to people on forums, send them to her list, build a relationship and she usually signs up 3-5 people a month.

Of course, her background in having the problem herself helps, I'm sure.

Give value, help, serve, serve, serve and the money will follow.

I personally think the only way to build a REAL buisness online is using paid traffic....seo traffic and all that is too unreliable.

Backlinking for good keywords that you have a even remote chance of ranking for is a good idea but just getting backlinks when your keyword is so competitive that even with thousands of the best backlinks in the world won't get you in the top 100 is just a waste of time and money.

Actually, when you use the critieria I use for ranking keywords, it only takes 2-5 really good backlinks and you are are page one and then some good onsite SEO and you are in position 1 - 3 consistently and stick there for good.

I've posted that criteria before.

Plus, even if you do get page one position one of google, if there isn't enough search volume it won't help you either.

And if you do get the search volume and thus clicks to your site but then don't convert them well, you still aren't going to achieve your end result.

It really is not that difficult but most people miss the obvious and there will always be those who will just keep selling you backlinks or something else yet no one takes the time to look at your site and say, well, we've got some big changes to make first for this to be effective for you.

This is why you see so many posts on here about people having a site up for months or years with tons of backlinks and still they are not making money.

And then someone else that throws up a sales page with little content and no backlinks yet makes some money in a few hours and then builds it up from there.

It all starts with really good niche research to find a niche that is both profitable and easily reachable by you. Doing this thoroughly saves a lot of wasted time and money.
