Linkwheelin'

Hey guys,

I've read recently that with the updates to Google's algorithm, linkwheels and certain other forms of SEO / linkbuilding are less effective.

Is there any validity to this, and is anyone here experienced in how it's effecting getting a site ranked?

Thanks!

  • i still geting good result with link wheel.
  • Link wheels still work but you won't make them the same way as the people did before.

    • Thanks for the tips, guys.

Oh yeah? How are people doing them nowadays?

      Thanks!
  • To me, link wheeling was never an effective method of link building. I find it spammy... I mean, content is suppose to attract backlink, there is no charm in creating content and linking it in a wheel yourself.

Many webmasters call it a useless technique.
  • And what exactly is changed?!? You can still continue using squidoo, hubpages to build very quality backlinks and do a great linkwheel
  • Linkwheels have gained massive popularity over the past couple of years and many services have been created as a result. There are 3 basic elements: keywords, useful content and properties to create.
  • Still, it is very difficult for Google to detect link wheel for any website as most experts do it very consciously and carefully so that it may seem natural and organic. If it is implemented properly, you will get the unbeatable advantages.

    • Yes. But the question will be how to do it properly.
  • I had an SENUKE X campaign done last month and it appeared to make hardly any difference. In most cases such campaigns are never updated so I don't know how Google takes this on.

Why can't my site be Google.com?

    • Hey Glenn,

That's great! However, when I try to download it with my DocStoc account, it says the file cannot be downloaded due to copyright protection. Is this an issue on my end?

      Thanks!
  • Not quite sure what's happened there Vince. I've added it as an attachment to this post.

    • Killer, Glenn, thanks!

Good question! Anyone have input on the best locations, or does it even matter?
  • Hey thanks Glenn! ... SLOBS.. I love that!!

I am wondering, when using a social site such as Twitter, Facebook, or Google+, where would I put the links? I know I guess obviously in the Tweet, but how about Facebook and Google+?
    • [1] reply
    • Yes there are 100's of Warriors who proudly call themselves SLOBS

I've never used, or even investigated Google+, so I can't comment on that.

As Far as FaceBook and Twitter are concerned, I'd probably be more inclined
to use those channels as a way to control my tribe/community/flock and get
them to click on links rather than use them as backlinks.

  • Link Wheels were always 'less effective' once Google tracked them out.

However, you can proceed with the same old web 2.0 properties method, but make sure your intentions are not to trick Google but, to get backlinks only.

    Hope it helps.
