Hey guys,

I was just wondering, if the root PR of a particular page is high (say PR:5), but the page you post a comment to get a backlink is PR:0...

Do you get hosed with a PR:0 backlink or does the root PR count?

What are your experiences with this?

You will be receiving a PR 0 backlink in the example you described. You will only get a PR 5 backlink if the link is on a PR 5 page. In your example, that would be the homepage.

In the term PR, the P stands for page.

Everything I or someone else say is just an educational guess, but I think it goes like this:

If you have a pr0 link it's obviously not as strong as PR5 link. A PR0 link is a PR0. you rather get a PR1 link than a PR0 link from a PR5 domain (most of the time).
but it really depends on other factors.

If the Domain is PR6, But it doesn't link to every second website on the internet, so it will be a very much stronger link even if the page itself is only PR0.

Digg and CNN both have PR8. but a link on an inner page with PR0 on CNN is much much stronger than a PR0 link on digg.com.

    let's take another example.
    digg.com vs delicious.com
both have pr8 domains, but one have 24M indexed pages, and the other have only 0.5M pages.
It means that digg have much more links to other pages than delicious, so delicious will probably give you more link juice.

    there are more factors like:
    * how many links pointing at this PR0 page. a page can have 100 or more link to it without having a pr, but it will still be pass the juice.
    * inner linking - how many other pages on the domain link to this page. the more link to it, the stronger it get's.

So you can use a website like blogger or digg, and create a page with a link to your website. that point a link (or more than one) from a second page on the same platform to this page, and build more link from other websites like delicious pointing to this page

    I hope it helped.
    p.s.
English is not my first language, so I am sorry if I have bad grammar.
