Has a Fiverr gig ever increased your search ranking?

Last week I spent about $20 dollars on Fiverr gigs in an
effort to increase my search ranking. Unfortunately,
it seems that these gigs actually decreased my search
ranking.

Have you ever purchased a Fiverr gig that increased
your search engine ranking? If so, which gig was it?
#search engine optimization #fiverr #gig #increased #ranking #search
  • Yes. I'm almost positive, but the problem is, I was doing other things as well. But, on more than one site, I had no movement until the gig. One profitable site is currently #2 for a keyword, and it's been there for a couple months. Before that I was on page 3 and 4.

Now that it's where I want to be, I'm not messing with fiverr anymore for fear of messing it up. I'm only adding the best content I can and hope that ensures my place at the top of page one.
  • Fiverr will get you cheap links that are completely worthless. Don't waste your time

Not necessarily. It depends what you buy!

I buy content from fiverr. $5 for 500 words. Not too bad and the quality is good.

I also use fiverr for videos as well. $5 to make a video. Damn right when people used to charge up to $50 for the same thing.

    • Yes it can, but you have to be careful who you use. Make sure fiverr person has a lot of great feedback.
    • Yes. I have seen this service package. But his network may by get de-index by google.
  • There was a huge discussion on this gig about a month back

build a LINKWHEEL with 6 High pr Blog Manually And Then Create 3000 Backlinks On Them Dominate The First Page Of Any Search Engine for $5 - volarex

Apparently it's helped a lot of people out

    • Fiverr is really cheap so you get what you pay for...
A lot of these gigs offering backlinks are done with
automation software and no real care is put in...

Unfortunately you wouldn't really be able to tell from
      a sudden hit of backlinks...

SEO and backlinks take time and consistency..

Personally I'd recommend you pick very carefully
who does your SEO for you
    • I did this on a new site with no previous links and ive gone from 16 to 8 in a low comp niche over a couple weeks. No other links have been built.

I also bought 10 linkvana posts which I had to write myself, and that took a site that had settled initially at 33 up to #7. No other links were built here either.

    • I don't think so. Just some thread over-hyped it.
  • Fiverr is a tool. Lets call it a hammer. In the right situation a hammer is the best tool ever. In other situations using a hammer will only break stuff. The trick is knowing when to use a hammer and when not to.

I got to the top of page 1 using fiverr gigs and stayed there for one day. Now I'm #5 for that keyword. My personal philosophy: one fiverr gig can boost you, doing the same kind of gig twice for the same site is dangerous.

    • Definitely agree with ThatAblaze about choosing the right tool for the job.

There are some brilliant gigs on Fiverr, there's also alot of duds. If you plan to use them then here are some tips.

1 - Clearly identify what action you want taken (eg. article written, article submitted, etc)

2 - Check their feedback (also make sure they have feedback that is recent)

3 - Check feedback they received on their other gigs too (do they provide consistently good service?)

4 - Ask them a question before placing your first order - see how long it takes them to respond so you get an idea about their customer service

5 - The first time you place an order with that provider make it for one of your low priority sites (that way you don't get kicked in the teeth if their gig sucks)

If you have any specific type of Gig you are looking for feel free to PM me for recommendations - I keep a database of Gigs I have used and how I rated the results
  • It's only been a week? This stuff takes time. Ranking isn't immediate.

That said, I had lots of folks who ordered my PR7, PR5, PR4, PR3 private blogroll package email me to say they shot up in SERPs. One guy said he went from 100 pages deep to page #2 in Google a few days after he ordered my blogroll package.

The key is to finding high quality backlinks.
  • You get a nice "help" for 5 bucks... If you need a real specialist, I advice you hiring a member here or in odesk
  • There are a lot of good quality gigs. Writers and designers and video makers and seo stuff etc....
You need just pick out right gigs, don't use spammy crap. Most of my own sites are ranked only by using Fiverr gigs and my own backlinking gigs are also listed in Fiverr. I buy and sell in Fiverr and I'm sure it's great place.
  • Yes..Fiverr is awesome..but you've to have good SEO knowledge on which gigs to pick & which gigs to avoid... 1000+ positive comments , doesn't mean its a good gig.. there are some hidden gems,, you better spend some time finding them..
never order 10000+ links , scrapebox/ xrumer blasts directly to your money site..It''ll decrease your rankings for sure.
LInk wheels, link pyramids, social bookmarks, High PR links always working for me.

Fiverr is awesome to diversify your backlinks, I use it often.

Especially for manual blog comments at high pr pages with low obl, manually bookmarking at Digg, Reddit and such, web2.0 creations (not linkwheels), submission to multiple article networks where you pay $60/month each for (until I have enough volume myself to sign up for these), forum thread backlinks (not the member profiles obvious), pressreleases. Plenty of gems out there, like the above poster said, you have to have some seo knowlegde to pick the right ones.

Just avoid the mass ones that offer thousands or hundreds of links for $5,- obvious these suck.

Oh and don't rely on the word "Manual" in the title right away, I saw someone offering 100 manual social bookmarks for $5,-, not even people in 4th world countries work for that kind of money (maybe they would but there is no internet on unknown islands).
    • Which link wheel is the best?

I have used it for the last couple of weeks. 1 month ago my position was 135 in Google but now its 225. so noting to say about Fiverr gigs.
  • No, never, and I tried a few. Mostly they either did nothing at all or some were damaging to rankings.

Avoid fiverr gigs like the plague.
  • How can you say something like this? There are a lot of stuff in high quality also!
    • [1] reply
    • That's my personal experience, Christopher!

If there really are gigs that are of high quality perhaps you would point me/us to them?

Or are they the ones in your signature? I do not regard submitting a spun article as 'high quality', I'm afraid.
      • [1] reply
  • There are a lot of good quality article and press release writers. Cheap and quality BMR posts for example and also other good stuff. You can buy same services in this forum or from SEO companies, but you need pay much much more. Fiverr is place for smart people, you need select carefully.
    • [1] reply
    • We can, at least, agree on that, Christopher!

      Kind regards

      Peter
  • Fiverr gigs are useful for 2nd and 3rd tier links if you're into that.

I would not risk it with money sites.
  • I like the hammer reference above...but Fiverr has it's place. I like it for things like facebook likes, social bookmarks, and content.
  • Lots of times you can get spam gigs that will decrease it. But it can also be part of the google dance .. Anyhow I have reached page one with many a fiverr gig..
  • It has been my experience that a lot of people here on the WF are offering SEO services, but instead of doing the work themselves (as implied or as advertised), they are simply hiring people on Fivver to do the work.

Much of what you may think is being done by the WF member is in fact being outsourced to someone else on Fivver for $5. They charge us whatever the market will bear (according to their offer) pay the Fivver guy $5, and they just pocket the difference. Sad but true. It's epidemic.

  • I think there are a few decent services on fiverr, but you have to know what you are buying. For $5 what can you expect though, seriously.

The best thing on there is the article writing I think. Get some BMR style posts written, and use them on other networks and stuff. Some of the writers are bad though so choose wisely! I have done about 4 or 5 different writers, and one of them was EXCEPTIONAL. I actually use that person every single time now, and have dropped all other writing.

So yeah, try out a few services, make sure you know what you are buying, and if you like them, bookmark it! (or contact them off fiverr lol)
  • fiverr gigs are the quickest way to decrease your ranking! full stop. they are usually automated, and i think google has a grip on automated software patterns..even twitter blasts will hurt you. I can think of no positive outcome from fiverr LINKING gigs...may be ok for graphic design, or article writing etc, but not for link building work.

    • Your dead wrong. Full stop.

Having over 100 websites, I use Fiverr near daily, and 99% of the time it helps my rankings. (Of course I'd never use these links on a client's website.)

As someone mentioned above, you need to have previous SEO knowledge / experience to know which gigs to buy / the timing to buy them.

      Sorry ruudbwai, you're wrong.

  • Yes. a lot of great gigs, but you need to be careful.

    I liked this analogy
  • Fiverr has worked for me... I'm pretty cautious of the baclinks i buy. I've had one that seem to affect one of my sites (but who knows really).

The others have got me on page 1 with specific keywords...

You really just need to check the url/request the url, then take a look at the context of the page, number of links already. Sometimes even talking to the seller and trying to get your link placed somewhere better can even help.

For people who order on Fiverr thinking of them as "gigs", you're most likely taking a shot in the dark with the gig that you think will get your site shot up the rankings.
Even if a gig has a bunch of good reviews and thumbs up, 99% of them are reviewing based on delivery, which the seller usually does deliver. They are not thumbs up based on effectiveness.

For people who think that ordering the 10,000 forum profile links directly at their money site could possible shoot them up the rankings, then you are really using Fiverr to harm your site.

For people who think of Fiverr as an outsourcing tool for things that can save them time and energy (like building 50 social bookmarks to sites like digg, reddit, etc) then Fiverr can be considered an awesome tool.

Meaning...don't take chances with services that hype their services. Know SEO before you order and only order what you would do yourself to your site, but would rather have someone else do it for you for $5.
  • Here's a tip for the newbie Fiverr users... When you buy a gig to help with SEO, you MUST understand exactly what you need.

Don't go on the hunt for gigs with the intention of "anything that helps with SEO."... Instead, dissect exactly what type of links you need, or whatever it is, and then hunt for the best gigs for your specific "niche" type of link building (article marketing, senuke, bookmarks, etc etc).

Think outside the box. If you see a 15,000 Scrapebox blast, some would automatically discount and not bookmark it... Well... Think... What else could you use 15,000 SB comments for?

Fiverr is a great tool that requires sufficient brain power to handle it correctly.
  • It depends what you're ranking, and what gigs you buy.

I increase rankings of youtube videos without problem on fiverr. Websites take a bit more work.. and $20 is nothing. Just sayin'
  • On one of my sites, I used 5 of the Fiverr gigs (in a 4 week period) and I ended up killing it. To be fair, I had it blasted with Scrapebox and xrumer, got some profile links, purchased a UAW gig, bought one of those double deluxe 12 site linkwheels and paid to have my site spam 300 edu sites. So I guess I was reckless in ordering those gigs to begin with. It was a site that I didn't really care too much about. I wanted to see what would happen. LOL, a bad thing happened.

The thing was that all of the sellers had great feedback.

I used BMR on the sites that I did care about and now it looks like they'll be dead soon too. The irony!

    • This was an interesting Reading. After I finished Reading this thread I decided to close my gig on Fiverr.

      I just did it.

I had a perfect 100% reputation. I did the job as best as I could. I offered services for free as a bonus, I made sure my clients always got value, I was featured on some WSO reports as a recommended Gig. But it never occurred to me that after all the fine work, people were really looking at my service as cheap labor or worse.

      Well, no more.

I have to thank you for opening my eyes. I got a peek behind the screen.

      ****

To answer the original question from James Liberty:
What services did you hire? How old and big is you site? Did you link to several pages or just a few or maybe just one? Did these gigs modify your link profile?

Saying you spent $20 doesn't say anything.

There are several services on Fiverr that can definitely help you to increase your rankings. But you need to make a SEO plan that fits what you site needs, and follow it using the services of gigs on Fiverr.

The advice from JamieSEO is very good.

      Frank,

  • Oranges .... I was about to point you to a Google page that assures webmasters that spammy backlinking from dubious competitors won't affect your SERPS, but it appears they have changed their tune !

    Check out :

Can competitors harm ranking? - Webmaster Tools Help

When I was first pointed to this last year, Google said :

“There’s almost nothing a competitor can do to harm your ranking or have your site removed from our index. " ( I found this in an archived post )

    .. which wasn't 100% re-assuring in the first case ..... note "almost"

    But now Google says :

"Google works hard to prevent other webmasters from being able to harm your ranking or have your site removed from our index."

and there are now increasing stories of websites under attack by competitors .

So even if you had been diligent and built up SERPS and PR with no automation tools at all, you are now at the mercy of those with these tools anyway ?

    Go figure !
  • Absolutely! I've spent several hundred dollars on fiverr gigs over the last 12 months with predominantly excellent results in SERPs.
I am very selective and has been said before check out the feedback first and make sure there's lots of good feedback. This strategy has helped ensure I've had mainly positive results.
Disclaimer: Please be aware that Google frowns upon purchasing links to manipulate page rank. So use sparingly!
    Good luck!
  • patch1308, are you happy to share your fiverr gigs
  • Never buy any back links because Google will not like this. Even if you buy back links they will provide you back links in low quality sites which is not relevant to your niche.

    • @joetheseo , Have to agree with you ..

Its just rubbish to believe that fiverr is bad (or not good). Most of them who comment about this doesn't even have an account on fiverr.

Getting a 1 minute sales video created for $5 is bad ??
Getting a link pyramid with seo articles for $5 is bad ??
Getting a wordpress website setup for 5$ is bad ??
Getting good bookmarking done for $5 is bad ??
Getting a programming assigned done for $5 is bad ??

Come on . this fourm allows to talk doesn't mean any one can BS ..

Be logical , pick the right guys and it works .. Full stop..
  • My experience is that too much of fiverr is harmful for website because of the spam links you get. Better spend $20 for getting 1 link from PR6 with maximum 10 outbound links
    • [1] reply
    • The link wheels have worked for me. Like mentioned look for ones with lots of positive feedback
  • It really depends on who you use...It's a huge site - you'll find good providers and bad ones too.

The trick is to stick with the good ones once you find them.
  • It used to work before but it doesn't work today..

It might still work today BUT you're putting your website at huge risk..
  • Yes, in fact there is one type of gig I recommend in my new WSO that is essential, not only for good ranking but to get Google on my side.

I use it for every one of my sites and I teach it in my 4 Hour Niches system.

    -Ryan
  • Fiverr is 90% pure junk for SEO. Rating are COOKED.

Article writing is so and so, social bookmarking is ok if you search for the right one.
  • wow thanks everyone . I alway wondered about fiverr . I will use it for article writing and graphics but be careful when it comes to links
