Looking for an Easy way to explain Backlinking and SEO to clients

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a resource that I can present to clients that explains Backlinking, Off Page SEO, On page SEO.

I have seen many videos before explaining very complex subject matter by making use if the Infographic style of video to present a topic. Hopefully there is something like that.

The above seems to mystify clients completely and some new and old clients (before they came my way) tell of the many times they have been taken for a ride by people making bold promises mixed with a few clever sounding words to take their money and run.

Everyone wants to get to No 1 in the SE but the small Bed & Breakfast (or any other small business) knows nothing of the techie stuff us IM'ers talk about all day.

The reason why I am looking for something to help explain this in very easy to understand terms is simply because I am unable to make it sound simple. My explanations are normally received in a "Deer in the Headlights" type of fashion.

So without a simple way to explain these things most clients are unwilling to part with their money on something they do not understand. They have already been burned by others and can no longer trust the guy that says "Trust me".

If you know of no such resource perhaps you can point me to someone that can produce the videos for me.

Thanks all

I agree. Just touch on the topic that once they have a good SERP, traffic will come rushing in NATURALLY which equates into sales.

    Hey John,
If it's too boring and confusing for your prospects, then I'd recommend you to make use of PLR presentations and videos. There are several options in the WSO forum. You buy PLR rights to them so you can use them as your own with a little/or no editing.
They are pretty affordable (at least the ones I've seen), and can save the day for you. Sorry I can't name the products atm, but you can easily search anyways.
    Cheers.

I think that is a good idea. Will search around and see what's available.

  • First, do not call it SEO. Like you mentioned, so many have been burned or snowed under by so many people it is almost a negative term. Call it internet advertising, internet optimization, or something like that.

Then explain the internet like it was the Yellow Pages. But unlike the Yellow Pages listing sites alphabetically, Google lists sites based on how well the words on your site match the words a potential client is searching for. So the first step is finding the words you want to be found on optimized on your website.

Link building can be explained by "talking". Let them know that another thing that helps rank their site is the number of other sites that are "talking" about theirs. When someone talks about them on a news site, a social media site, they then can leave a link back to "their" site. The more places people are "talking" about their site, the more important Google thinks the site is and the better it will do.

So your goal for them is to match the words on their site with what their local clients would be looking for, and to spread the word about their business so many other sites are talking about them.

I couldn't have said it better myself....

That's how I have come to explain it to just about all my local and offline clients that are looking to get some SEO done...

      Thanks!
      Jason
