Why Is My Tracking202 Software Missing Clicks?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can provide me with some advice. I run the self-hosted version of Tracking202 inside of Prosper202 on a shared hosting platform (Bluehost Pro). I've noticed that my statistics seem to be missing a few of my conversions, according to what PeerFly reports. In other words, I am "missing some clicks".

I don't have a large volume of clicks coming in (~100 - 150 clicks per day), and if I analyze my Tracking202 logs around the time of the missing conversion, there wasn't a large burst of clicks. I'm not sure why this is happening.

Could it be because I am using shared hosting? If you're thinking "yes" -- keep in mind I have an upgraded hosting plan with more CPU/RAM, and I have very low click volume.

I want to get the opinions of others before I shell out $40/m on VPS. Thanks.

  • I don't think it has anything to do with shared hosting. And I am very curious as to why you would think that. My guess is that your tracking code is not loaded by the time the user clicks the link.

    Check if your tacking code is at the bottom of the HTML ... if it is, it means it gets loaded last. So, in theory, I can visit your site, and click your affiliate links before the site and the tracking code is fully loaded.

    I would also check that the code is on every page ...

    • Thanks for your input.

      The reason I thought it could be my shared hosting is because the creator of Prosper202 recommends VPS only.

      And correct me if I'm wrong, but your advice would only apply if I had a landing page. I am direct-linking to zip/email submits. So when someone clicks on my PPC ad, they are clicking a tracking link that redirects to the offer. I've used landing pages before, and with that implementation your advice seems to fit better.

      Any other thoughts?

  • If you still need help with this, let me know. We have found that some tracking methods have the tendency to do this, however we have a pretty solid solution to avoid this. Let me know, I am here to help

    • Hi,

      I'm having exactly the same problem, Missing a lot of clicks in my prosper202. I'm even wondering if my lander is shown all the time. My log files don't mention anything, however I'm on shared hosting.

      @Bevo Troy
      If you could give me some solid advice I would really appreciate that.

      Thx
