I'm on the verge of uploading my newly designed website which was built with wordpress unlike the current one in which i didn't use a cms. I'm scared that i might lose my page rank considering the fact that the links for the new site are different from the old ones. What steps should i take to avert an unflattering situation.

I'm confused. Are you saying you have a new design or a new domain?

I have a new design and a new content. The domain remains the same.

I think you can get a plugin called link juice keeper that will divert any PR to pages that no longer exist to another page on your site.

Then the backlinks that were already made will remain the same. They're still pointing to your domain.

Are you still going after the same keyword?
Depending on how you restructure your site, your ranking may decrease, but it could also increase based on the new on-site structure of your SEO alone. Many people have moved their site over to Wordpress and found their rankings improve due to its seo-friendliness.

The good thing is that most of my baclinks are pointing to my homepage which will not change.

Yes, i'm going after the same keywords.

I'm trying as much as possible to retain the same keyword density for each keyword.

If there are any places on the internet, or in emails or anyplace else, that link directly to an internal page in your old site structure, then you will want to create a 301/permanent redirect from the old page location to the new page location. Otherwise all those links will become broken, plus you will lose that link juice.
