Foreign Website SEO

I'm thinking about building a website for the russian audience. Would SEO basically be the same as here in the US except I would type in russian letters and have a .ru domain? Is there a google keyword tool for foreign countries?

    Yes it would be exactly the same. I believe you can select a different country and language with GKWT.

    Just noticed found that in GKWT thanks guys. So basically SEO would be the same as here, just do it in the other language right? And instead of posting content on sites that are popular here I would work on posting content and getting backlinks from RU sites?

      Yeah...You should concentrate your offpage linking on Russian websites mainly.Do Directories, article marketing and can use the country name in onpage also for quick ranking.

    I suggest you to use yandex.ru (it's SE) for keywords. Yandex - is the most popular SE in Russia.

    Yes it would be exactly the same. I believe you can select a different country and language because USA is the big fish for revenue and you easily get tons of clients but Russian is not good for business purpose..

    Not really the same, as in google having facebook or g+ fans, you can get better position in search, though in yandex.ru there is other social networking sites that you should consider: vkontakte.ru.

    Use yandex keyword tool - wordstat.yandex.com, instead of google.

    Though main SEO still works, as h1, h2 titles, keywords in first and last paragraph, though backlinks should come from russian websites with russian text, otherwise it won't work.

    Well If You are Planning For Russian based version of your Site to target Russian Audience, You can perform Normal SEO activities in order to Rank Your Website! You can also target Local sites, directories as well for getting handsome amount of Niche Based Traffic for Your Site!!
