Hey warriors,

We all know that Google is a crawler based search engine. Can any one tell what the things that Google crawler not read or not to index? Can flash websites really ranked and how to optimize it?

  • Google don't like duplicate contents. Many of the times it happens that we do not bother what we about duplicate URL, but it matters a lot...If Google finds any such URL it do not index that page, It doesn't matter whether the page contents are different or same.
  • Its is very difficult to get the rank of of flash website So plz ignore the flash

    • First let me clear your doubt, that Google's crawler would craw until and unless its path is blocked ( say by the robots.txt file) or because of broken link.
      And speaking about its limitation, Google crawler can't craws the flash file and image file ( though they crawls its alt name and title of image).

      Its a advice that you better make a website with 90% text and rest 10% flash or image, so that Google can understand what your site is all about.

  • Try to use Flash only where it is really necessary. Many media sites use Flash only for display media content, but at the same time, use HTML for content and navigation.

    Google does not hates Flash content. Rather it has told in Google Webmaster Central blog and Webmaster Help that "Googlebot can index almost any text a user can see as they interact with any Flash SWF file on a website, and can use that text to generate a snippet or match query terms in Google searches."

    • Well this is a nice resource, thanks for posting. My idea for flash is that, while it is a way of making your website more attractive and interactive, you should not forget to use text to support your flash contents.
  • Flash sites of course. All flash sites are not ignored by Google, sites having their valuable content and information in flash is not advisable. Embedding flash into HTML and having valuable content as text can make flash sites also to rank well.
  • Well, google does not hate flash websites... Their spiders just find it hard to crawl other content media like videos and images flash websites.

    Spiders can crawl textual content in SWF files of all kinds. This includes Flash "gadgets" such as buttons or menus, self-contained Flash websites, and everything in between.

    Although search engines are still in their infancy to read and understand flash. Furthermore, the amount of website in Flash are miniscule... so... neither they need to worry about crawling flash content.

    Its better that you make a text based website... than Flash based
  • Google now started crawling all types of website. Few years before google crawler faced difficulty while crawling the image but now the sensor based crawler can read your images also. If you are looking to promote your flash website then make it search engine friendly and lighter for fast browsing. The slow site will never get their desire position.

    • People use flash for reasons that can be useless.
      Like a header or content that could easily be made
      with a normal image, or normal text. If that's you,
      there's no reason to use flash.

      Flash can be an attention getter and certainly is useful
      for some things. If you use flash, you run the risk of
      having visitors who do not have it turned on. You
      should provide just as much regular images and text
      to satisfy any visitor, as well as a google crawler.

      While google can and does crawl some text in flash,
      seems to me it would be a crapshoot. Why not be
      safe and add enough text? I would not rely on anything
      in swf to be contributing to the SEO of the page.

  • Google crawls images. You may even search images by similarities. In 2007 they also patented a technique which allows them to read pretty much any text on any image.

  • Google hates spam pages, pages with little value to the user, pages that are meant for backlinking, and so on.

    Basically anything that tries to game its algorithm.
