Battered and bruised, what SEO weapon will you warriors pickup next?

We've been knocked around in the SEO arena lately by Google, but victory only comes to the man in the arena who gets up and continues to fight.

We've just witnessed Build My Rank get chewed up right in front of our eyes, with all blog network links being de-indexed, followed by an announcement to shut down its site.

We're also aware that methods such as blog commenting and more 'spammy' looking unnatural links are now futile on the battleground.

We've seen The Panda update shred sites into pieces.

So in such difficult times to get our sites ranked on top for glory, what CAN we do to dominate Google?

What SEO services have been still working for you?
What SEO paid services would you still definitely recommend?

How do you feel the current stringent Google SEO policies will affect your performance in the near future?

Eager to hear your responses.

    Paid advertising?

I don't know about you, but I think paid ads will be much more reliable than any SEO that is fleeting in nature.

SEO is nothing more than an arms war between Google and SEO professionals.

Google changes the algorithms, then SEO's look for a hole. Google plugs one hole, then SEO's find another hole to exploit.

The wheels on the bus go round and round. :p

Tis true, there have been many changes in the seo arena. I have found that good and enjoyable to read article submissions to non-spammy sites have been successful. Social bookmarking and bolstering those articles has proved to work too. Basically giving an article with a backlink to your site or a deeplink on your site some credence.

Any SEO technique that goes mainstream is doomed to die off fast. Here's a quick tip - stay away from everything talked about in the WSO forum or any other "method" that is being openly discussed by a large group of people.

    Good luck!

Yep, I third or fourth that.

Personally I am happy to say I have avoided mass-spamming as a SEO technique as I hate the idea of spamming and filling the Internet with crap, but also because sooner or later there is a good chance of that approach backfiring, like it may well prove to for the gazillions of BMR users who are now watching and waiting in trepidation to see what happens to their rankings.

Personally I am finding a largely white-hat approach the most cost-effective for me these days, and doubt I will be using many public SEO services in the future. It's just becoming easier to rank a site by contacting a bunch of high-PR sites in my niche and offering guest posts - that kind of stuff.

Also, creating a brand around your site is important - creating proper pages on all the major social networks, working on content that is authoritative in its niche, even it's a micro-niche., making sure you have a logo, some kind of brand ID, that kind of stuff. It's just proving easier for me to go that way - maybe Google won this one, well, whatever, I am just going to do what is best for my business and what works for me.

Looks like it's back to the basics.
I'm pretty sure that BMR was M.A.N.U.A.L.L.Y destroyed by Google.

So yes, i think you're right to say that anything mainstream is going to be screwed over
