If you've got a Wordpress site, you should probably incorporate the rel=author tag into your templates, so connect your articles with your personal profile in Google+. In theory, this will matter down the road as Google incorporates writer authority in the ranking algorithm.

Plus you get that cool little author picture in the search results.

If you've got a single writer blog, it's relatively straightforward to hack your templates to include it.

But I was finding it complicated to add to my multi-writer blog templates, so we built a plugin.

You can download it here:

WordPress › Google authorship for multiple authors « WordPress Plugins

I hope you find it helpful, and please give me any feedback if you need additional features.

  • One thing for sure, Fraser... authorship IS a big deal now. Google will absolutely incorporate verifiable authorship established by all the rel=author technie stuff that's so difficult for simple users (like me). Plugins are a MUST in my opinion, so thanks for bringing this one to us.
