Apart from twitter and facebook, what are the most important authority sites I should get links from when starting a new site ?

    If it's a brand new site, I'd throw friendfeed into the mix.

    With friendfeed, you can just add your site feed and it'll auto-update everytime you add a new post.

    It helps with indexing, especially for new sites. It's also a very good backlink.

    If you want to get your site indexed asap and get some dofollow backlinks (get you better google rankings) you register at the Forum in my signature and start making relevant posts and get dofollow backlinks with every post!
