Blocking backlink checkers

Just want to seek for some opinions. Are there warriors here blocking the backlink checkers with robots.txt?

Will this do any good to the site? One of things I can think of is that it will be more difficult for your competitors to analyze your backlink profiles.

  • There is no connection between backlink and robot.txt
Link campaign that you are working on is placed on other website
so whatever you do to hide your backlink still can be traced by backlink checker.

If you want to make your competitor puzzle when spying your backlink, always do white hat method such as guest post on related website, etc. With doing that, even though they will find your backlinks they will hard to copy your method.

  • According to me there is no any connection between incoming links and robot.txt file. Robots.txt file is really good works as a messenger for the search engines, which inform search engines, what pages are indexed and not indexed. You can limit personal webpages or files to index by search engines via following command. They command are defining as below.

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: / YourFiles
    Disallow: / PersonalD
    Disallow:/Pages/Login.php
  • Blocking Backlinks checker via Robots.txt ???!!! your backlinks are on other sites how can you control the pages of others blogs via your robots.txt and also you cant stop spiders to index the links and content on the page even by robots.txt. Its just a request for the SE spiders not to index those pages but they may not obey it but its not seen generally.
  • Oh, may be I have made a mistake here

I thought that I can use things like

    User-agent: MJ12bot
    Disallow: /

to block services like majesticseo so that it will not show backlinks to my site.

Sorry that I made this mistake ....
  • You can only stop them if they respect and follow the robots.txt rules.
