Google maps or places?

Hey
I dont understand if there is any diffrent between google maps and google places. What is the diffrent between these 2????
I went to Google maps to add my buisness and its took me to Google places.

theyre basically the same if you add a google place it just goes to maps.

Its Googles future approach on street views etc. that has connection with PLACES . but for now guess things get placed in both .
