articles page vs blog, which is better?

Hey guys,

We are just about to launch a redesign of our e-commerce site.

We have a lot of content that we will be uploading gradually, and I am wondering which is better, an "articles" page with a list of hyper-links to each individual article page, or a blog?

Is there any difference in seo terms?

Our product deals with a very sensitive male issue, so it's not as if there will be a great deal of interaction from customers.

I am just wondering if presenting the information in the form of a blog as opposed to an articles page is more beneficial?

Thanks in advance

I recommend create both section. Article and blog both have different things to offer in content. Article can be informative content about the topic you are writing whereas in blog you can create a personal touch with the visitors. One advantage is that with time you can also knwo which one is bringing good results and you can then make a conclusion if you need to focus more on the blog or on the article section.

If your website is new, update 75% of the posts on your own blog so that It will help in increasing traffic for your project and rest of the 25% can be submitted to directories but do not submit one article in a lot of directories, just submit one article in one directory but search for the best directories that are having good rankings and then bookmark them once they are approved. This will help in getting a couple of good backlinks for your project.

Agreed. Seems like Google like blogs more and visitors might need to ask questions so blog would be my choice.

It would be better to mix them both. You might have observe that now a days most of the business websites are including a section for Blog (though maintaining its main static part).
Nice yours too is actually B-site so just add a Blog Section (targeting the main niche of the site).

Now, Why a Blog Section ?

Google ( Guess, this might be the main targeted S-Engine !) has recently updated its algorithm and introduced "Most Recent". Means the fresher content would have better SERP ( if done correctly !). Usually Blog gets update more frequently, indirectly helps to maintain SERP of your Site and gets to organic Visitor For your site.

A blog is sort of a list of articles. It's just a recently (in the grand scheme of things) coined term for just that. Blog / News / Articles section. They're all basically the same thing.

Keep both article and blog pages. Keep updating them on regular basis as search engine consider them as, your site is more active and informative.

Other advantage of using both pages is many of the user don't like reading article so a blog can make user stay on your site.

Thanks very much for all of the replies guys.

It seems like there are mixed responses as to which is more effective.

I recently attended a webinar, and the guy said that calling it an "articles" page may not be the best way forward (he seemed to suggest google might think your website is just an articles directory). Do you think there is any truth in that? Seemed like a wild statement to me, but you never can be sure with the big g! If so, what would you call it? A "resources" page?

I didn't originally plan to have a blog, but I guess in this day and age, we can't really afford to be without!

    Thanks for all the advice
