"This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful."

I don't know why Google's tweet (http://searchengineland.com/google-s...out-now-116444) points to that post specifically.

The first link is from 2011, the second link from today. Very confusing.

Few of my websites took hit yesterday. Got tanked from top 3 to no where in top 100 (including internal pages).

Time to take few steps back, breathe, relax, analyze and then start working again!

Sites have good quality content and are not thin in any way. But, we did buy links aggressively last few months, so I guess we deserved it. Around 90% backlinks are not in Google's index anymore!

Sites that have white-hat backlinks are not affected at all. So, long-term planning and patience is very important.

This new change reflects for sites which have low quality content in them. Also content to ad ration on the site matters. I would suggest adding quality content to your site continuously would save you from this update. A good article can be found here:- http://ezinearticles.com/?Google-Pan...ngs&id=6482414

Guest post links are effective when they are contextual and natural!!

Great! I know I was sitting around this weekend saying "I hope to Good God Almighty that Google will change their algo!"

How about you? I love daily changes

I agree. I think we should blame ourselves instead of Google. While we were buying links and using all sorts of BLNs we knew that we are taking a big risk.

Our content was good, infact we worked really hard on it but unfortunately we took short-term approach and ruined our hours of hard work spent on writing quality content.

I am glad that we did not use these backlinks on all of our sites. So, I am pretty sure that we can come back in next 6 months.

BTW, did not get any message on webmaster tool.

I respect Google's Decision but I can't understand why my websites got hurt?

My websites' having really good content, two are services websites and two are product sites. each one of these have really nice content with at least 2 years old domains.

I did not use any of black hat link building technique.
I did not buy any backlink.
I did not overly optimize any of my website.

    but still got hurt......

Yes, there is an update. My oldest site improved in ranking.

1 page of my other site is affected. It is strange some of the keywords are still ranking at the same position while others can't be seen in google.
