Hey guys,
So all this talk of the Over SEO penalty is making me very nervous as my sites mostly rely on organic traffic to be successful.

I have one full time SEO guy who does my on-page optimization and some backlinking and another person from the Philippines to do the majority of backlinking work for all my sites. Building 50+ links for each site each week.

IF I keep doing this method, will my sites get penalised?

Nick

My magic 8 ball says no.

Seriously, nobody can answer that without knowing the backlinks (quality of link, etc...).

Definitely it depends on what kind of link they are generating..

Your site will not be penalized unless you do any black hat techniques to build links. I hope your site is performing well by effort of the link builders, so no need to worry

building backlinks to your site is a black hat technique. According to Google's webmaster guidelines, you are not "supposed to" build any links to your own site. The best way to stay penalty free is to avoid the spotlight. Right now Google is going on a rampage against blog networks. That doesn't mean you can't build links by submitting to web 2.0 sites, or creating your own personal network. I would avoid the public networks, but you cannot afford to stop link building altogether.

50 backlinks and a little more from your on-site guy shouldn't cause you any penalties.
