Should I go with this keyword? Still no answer!!!

It is marked as HIGH with 4400 global monthly searches.

When I google the keyword I find Amazon occupies the #3 position.

How tough will it be to beat this Amazon site? (According to your knowledge and experience)

Does high mean really high?

    There are more ways to get traffic to your site other than SEO. So, it really shouldn't matter who occupies the 'hot' spots on Google. If you can bring value to someones life, you will make sales.

    As far as 'going' with the keyword; that entirely up to you. Do you know the niche well enough to actually help people? If you do, then by all means go for it.

    It seems that your selected keyword has not enough searches, if it was 4400 exact searches, then it is worth going for, if 4400 global - not. High or low in google keywords tools shows advertisers competition, not real competition in search results for that keyword.

    In my limited experience with SEO, I have found that it is better to find the secret niches--the rare phrases that are easy to command that people will still request.

    If a phrase looks absolutely incredible, go for it! But, it is a long road to Google page one on a hotly contested keyword phrase!

      it is about solar energy. I think it is very difficult for a newbie to find any secret niches.

    You can usually outrank Amazon quite easily, but if they are at number three, how powerful are the sites at #1 and #2 these are you main competitors.

    I don't think you will find any 'secret' niches either all the secrets are out, your best bet would be something very new that has little or no competition yet, it is a lot easier to rank a site when there is little competition. good luck

    In general it's quite easy to beat an Amazon page in the SERPs (particularly if it is for a particular item) as the specific page generally has little to no backlinks to it.

    Amazon product pages rank mostly due to the domain authority of Amazon itself.

    It only has 4400 global searches, I think this is very low how about the competition percentage for this keyword have you checked it?

    A specific product Amazon page is usually pretty easy to outrank for general related terms. They don't get many backlinks, and aren't extensively linked internally. However, it's a lot tougher to outrank Amazon category pages for the general category terms. They may have an anchored internal link from just about every page on the site in some cases... so it's much more difficult to overcome.

    As for 4400 exact global, I prefer to look at exact local. Also, how well it converts makes all the difference. I have one 4400 exact global that gets 1600 local, and it's a great keyword because it converts very well. Just being on the first page (local US) is worth about $200/mo, and at #1 is closer to $2000/mo for that keyword.

    On the other hand, I have a 10000 exact global that gets 500 exact local. I rank in the local results, but there's barely any traffic there. It doesn't convert at all either. So I haven't made any money at all from it yet. Haven't ranked in the UK yet where the majority of the traffic (and of course much tougher competition) is.

      Thank you for sharing. Do you use just Adsense or do you monetize the site in other ways too?

      I was talking just about Adsense in my post.

    The sites I mentioned are Adsense right now. They're both very new (3mo or so) product related niche sites. I eventually hope to move into drop shipping or perhaps even manufacturing the product for the one that's doing so well, but for now Adsense is ok while I focus on adding content and rankings.
