Hello,

I wish Matt Cutts would comment on this. He would start of with something along the lines of "We do our job here and simply that. It's not our job to take care of the worlds finances." Ask you self one question, would you do this, if it affected your families income or your friends? I bet your answer is NO!

Matt Cutts if you are sent here to read this! Which you have responded to many of my threads randomly overtime when I called on you. My message: You have gone mad with power and I feel you no longer care about the small people. Everyday I felt good about offering cheap prices to people so they could better their lives an get a return on investment. The world is bad enough right now don't you think so? Why would you make it worse, you alone have possibly put 10000's out of jobs. The affect this will have on small business owners will be unheard of. The days of the small business owners are over. The small changes you guys make are great, but this is by far the worst move you could have ever made. What great ROI way do you want us to use to rank others up now? Sure there is the long methods that will take $80k + a year to really rank someone, but how do I offer cheap prices to the small people now? You just put them out of business is all you did... I know you will read this and would love for you to respond.

Like many of you I am a owner of a large Internet Marketing Business.

I have ranked 1000's of keywords I held rank 1 for terms like payday loans, cash loans, and many many other competitive terms on page 1. I would like to keep my name out of this for company reasons. So if any of you know me please don't state our company or my name. No one wants to be here doing this, but the time is near. I know for 100% fact that 13 more networks are getting hit very soon.

I am here to figure out with the rest of you what works, because it's obvious all networks are going down regardless of how private they are. My private network is gone, over 6,000 sites have been found. My advice to you is to join me so we can figure this out together or we will all lose a lot of money, clients, and waste a lot of time.

3 day ago we got the message of death from Google where they have found out that we have network links leading to our website. Day 3 we lost all of our rank 1 / top 3 ranks for our SEO terms. It's coming for all of you as well.

Lets go over some sites some feel aren't like a private network.

Linkvana - This to me is a private network, so why is this still up? Tested today I got 1 article indexed in 21 hours flat. So they can't be hit, or atleast yet. Can anyone confirm linkvana working for them? Most feel they are the next to get hit by Big G and so do I.

Unique Article Wizard - There is a lot of talk that this may be the way to go now. Can anyone confirm that this is working for them and ranking terms up? They have been around for a while, most think this isn't a private network and feel it's different from Google. Will this be the new BMR site?

Rankjumpers - Terrible interface, but they accept unique content. Many account problems and you can only submit 2 per day even though they say 5. They have a very small network. They don't know if they even have different types of ips either. They claim different class c ips, but not sure if they have different a.b type ips. It's obvious they are getting hit soon. I feel they will be gone by the next update.

It's obvious that we will need to use a much broader link diversity than what we did before so we don't just push 50 links towards a keyword from a network and watch it rank to the first page.

Lets go over daily tactics for 1 website. I am thinking of the following for my clients, but lets talk.

1. 2-4 directory links per day

2. Seven 1 per day 500 - 1000 word not spun article per week to a hub 2.0 site like hubpages etc.

3. Seven 1 per day (500 - 1000 word) - press releases not spun to two different sites. Some say 1 submitted to 30+ sites are fine, but this is in the past. Google will just take it down from duplicate content. If you pick the right sites they will syndicate anyways.

4. Possible UAW?, Linkvana, Rank jumpers? Mixture of all? links per day? If so 2 -3 articles per day min 300 words each 1 anchor text per per site? 1 site? Recent tactics 35 a week per competitive keyword, doesn't work anymore lol, it gets you banned. Or will they all get hit too? Not sure yet if this will even work soon. This will probably be gone soon, maybe they are part of the 13 that will be hit within the next few weeks.

Or do we stop network links and focus back on free quality article sites with dofollow links, not spun. I am starting to think this is going to be the only way in the near future.

5. Social site drip? 3 likes per week 3 Google + 1's per week.

6. Inner page blog building, SMO. Daily blogging 5+ links per day for SMO purposes from sites like reddit, stumble, digg, etc etc. Inner linking to the home page for a keyword.

7. Site presence - daily postings on twitter and facebook

8. 2 -4 social bookmarking sites per day I feel I may even give some diversity of Nofollow and Dofollow at this point to make everything look as natural as possible.

I know many more, but want others to contribute at this point. Please give me your input on what you feel will be a must. What should I add to the above list? We will all need this.

Please add to the above!

There is so much more. With all do respect, for someone claiming #1 rankings for such competitive terms you seem a bit clueless about SEO. Bringing up old networks like Linkvana and UAW as if those are the future and a lack of understanding of real link diversity. Also your 1 post makes this all seem a bit odd.

Yes on the money. Someone used to ranking for competitive SEO terms talking about bookmarking? AND WEB 2.0 SITES? FOR REAL?

I'm actually more interested in how google found out about your private blog network of over 6000 sites.

        - What possible footprints did you leave?
        - Were they all on separate IP's?
        - Any interlinking done?
        - same themes?
        - spun content?
        - etc/etc/etc

I'm in the middle of finally making my own private network after all these public networks have been outed.

          1. Everyday we took possible thoughts on how Google would catch us from all employees. We aren't aware of any. We aren't the only SEO company that is in use with this, however we are the owners. I can't say who, but there are about 5 of your biggest SEO companies in the world that use this same network. This is a network equal to RankPay's network they use.

          2. The ips where from different a.b.c ips, yes some where on the same c block, but no more than 4 at the max. We also used ips from other countries like uk, india, au, ca, and much much more.

          3. No innerlinking at all, not 1 ever.

          4. No we didn't use the same themes ever. We actually bought pre existing already ranked blogs in many cases so it looked different from the ones we already had.

          5. No spun content ever, all posts where written by our article writters and they where not allowed to even rewrite, all of it had to be like a BMR post. We did 250 words per 1 anchor text.

          6. I am not sure what else we could have done, all sites where built up with many backlinks and some sites where as old as 10 years. Most where 2 - 3 years and we didn't even have one site that was under 1 year old.

I figured you would know everything I mentioned, so my post is redundent.

And Yes, you did answer my post.

Everything I know, will soon have no meaning trust me. The world of backlinking is about to change. I am here to figure out thee most ethical SEO list anyone can do on a daily basis, because this is the biggest start.

It's been so long since any of us has done it all ethical I am sure, so I am here to brush up on some very ethical tactics I guess.

I feel it is all changing big time too. It may be nothing like we imagine when it is done.

So I am focusing on the things that still are working. I got a niche site to page one #6 out of 1,830,000 results yesterday with one blog comment so google could find the site. I know it will probably sink back down, even though an EMD, but it sure seemed easier than it has before. It seems like less is more when it comes to getting something to point to ones site and get some upward movement in g.

Just checking over some tactics we have been using and I made a new website and did only social media to it. The keyword is a 12k exact search term monthly. The site is sitting rank 10. The site is only 2 weeks old. It has held for 1 week without any dancing at all. Generally we have a huge gain with bookmarking and directories in about 3 days and they fall again. This time it has held. We do have 1100 words on the page with a 1.6% density total.

I don't know everything... I am hoping others can add. Prove me wrong, show me a tactic still working.. Read other threads on WF, as you can see companies are now posting on here like ours asking what the next best method is. I can tell you there isn't one that we found.. Just frustrating soso results.

                        But you said

I can tell you this, everything you think you know now, will amount to nothing in a short time to come. Plan on everything you know about SEO going to dust. It's coming very very soon.
So my question was that if everything is changing, like you claim, what is the point of sharing stuff that works right now since you claim to have inside information that none of it will work going forward?

Or is what you really meant to say was that the tactics YOU have been using do not work anymore, and you are looking for ideas from those of us who are getting rankings?

I'm just really confused because on one hand your telling us nothing we are doing now is going to work and on the other hand you are asking for tips we are using that work.

Here's how Matt Cutts would respond. And maybe add clarification
to my mindset, as if anyone needs/wants that.

Let's take student loan consolidaiton. Oh sure. High paying
niche right? Let's do a site! We can get some articles and
man they would be unique cuz that's the cat's pajamas.
Then we can just toss some links out there and WHAMO!
Google must love us! And if they don't, well, sniff, they
are just mean and wanting to stamp out the little guy
                          -Sniff-sniff.

Matt Cutts would say, sorry, we don't need yet another
lame-O student loan consolidation site. What for?
Except for a REAL BANK, the only real site needed is
the Fed's site on student loans.....surely we don't need
to stomach another info-mashed site just hoping for an
                          adsense click.

Ditto for car insurance, weight loss, etc...

car insurance? Man there's sites like geico, esurance,
even your own dang broker! We don't need no more stinkin'
                          info-mash sites on insurance!

Weight loss? Go see your doctor! Or webmd. We don't
need another site on some mythical weight loss diet
                          crapola.

And if you think we need yet another best cellphone android
handheld tablet review site, man get with the program people!

                          Paul

                            Hi OP

Those network you mentioned are in no way 'private'. I don't understand why everyone says that.
To me if they had a name, they're made PUBLIC.

                            2. You said that you have 400-500 clients. In no way they're considered private as well.

Private network means you keep the sites solely to you, only yourself.
If you sell it as services, it's not difficult for Google to track them down.
Did you monitor the outgoing links?
Did you use some kind of automation?

6000 is too large to maintain without giving out any footprints.
I have seen 'private' blog networks in DP with just 100-200 sites deindexed 2-3 years ago. This is not something new.

In anything, if you're gaming the law, the system or the regulations, you need to stay under the radar, never grow too big. A big risk comes with big rewards, but it may not last. I feel your pain. Just my 2 cents, thanks for sharing!

Yes unfortunately this is true. I won't go deep into why I know this is true because most people will just doubt how I know this. All i'll say is I have seen the changes and it is a huge algorithm change of epic proportions largely effecting how backlinks effect rankings. Its bigger then anything ive ever seen Google do. It makes Panda look small.

I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't get hit (knock on wood). So let me ask you a few questions:

            - How many posts per day were you publishing?
            - Did you add images to posts?
            - Did you publish any posts with no links in it?
            - Did you publish any posts with nofollow links in it?
            - Did you publish posts under 250 words and 1000+ words?

(Doing the above stuff would help make a blog look more natural)

Images and relevant videos where in each post. Something like BMR, but the videos where actually relevant.

All posts had 1 link, so that was our mistake probably, we should have put some content without posts, but this could easily still get banned I am sure.

              All posts had a dofollow

Some orders we took asked for 150 word posts, and some asked for large articles of 750, but generally 750 was the most we put up. Not saying a few of a 1000 slipped in there from an order or two, but for the majority just the normal as stated.

How many posts per day on average?

So far the pattern is 1 (dofollow) link per post and whois. My guess is you were posting lots of articles that raised the the flag for a manual review?

For higher pr sites we would increase the links per day and for lower sites we would maybe do 5 per day on pr1 sits. All within reason.

So 20-30 posts for the high PR sites?

It's called the need for diversity. Post just network links and get back to me on how that worked for you lol. Please post constructive learning tips for others in the thread or you will be reported for spamming this thread.

      Hello,

Attaining top rankings with 6,000 private websites isn't hard imo. I am not claiming to be a guru. I am just claiming to have gotten those rankings. If you have 6k sites you don't need to be a guru lol. I am here to learn the new ways.

Also please note: I didn't put down everything i know lol, read the last part, I even said that and am looking for others to contribute.

It seems that this is what Google is forcing on everyone. I mean why not? If you where the biggest site in the world, why not force everyone to use what you offer and cut the small guys out?

You can continue to follow the advice. In that case, I'll play along.

A press release every day??? what the heck micro niche has that much newsworthy content? If they were paid press releases through a reputable source like PR Web, you'd be lucky to get one through a month.

The OP keeps referring to quantitiy. Remember, Quality is more important than Quantity folks. This is looking like the "Weed out the Crap" algorithm update. If that's the case...I like it.

Oh please here is the issue. We are being ten times more helpful then you are being. The Op is not simply asking for suggestions he is also making statements that people will bite on and some already have and are believing strictly on the basis of allegedly ranking in competitive terms that we have no idea if he did or didn't (most likely didn't based on some suggestions being made).

In order to improve on knowledge you have to be able to weed out what IS knowledge and what are statements that are unsupported because if you don't you don't get smarter reading but actually end up with more things that lead you away from the truth.

Agreed Mike but he is accurate on one thing. There is a huge algorithm change coming. There are Google servers already running it and testing it I believe its about 1%. Ive seen it in action twice and I can't make heads or tails of it. It seems like they have reevaluated what trust factors they are using from backlinks. I will say my sites that have less spammy links (forum, blog comments) faired better, but for the most part the SERP's had really hit sites ranking solely on normal SEO methods, and natural link building sites took over. I looked at over 200 searches and I couldn't believe my eyes how well they figured things out.

Because you know Google servers are already running/testing it? How exactly has it been in action twice?

Personally I think your statement is BS, and 99% of others on this forum making statements about Google is laughable at best. Not saying I know anything more than you do, but I don't spread this kind of misinformation.

At least answer me this, what do you call natural link building? Can it not be manipulated? If so, there's nothing stopping us from gaming Google once again.

You don't need to believe me. I believe it's 1% because that's what Google admits they use when they test new algo's which is a confirmed fact. Take what you want but I saw it first about a week ago and freaked. Then I saw it again about 3 days ago. If you are searching your own rankings it makes you very aware when u see huge changes and realize you are not looking at the usual. All I'll say is I'm not a newb, I don't spread misinformation. Call me a liar call me what you will I don't really care. I have no reason to lie.

P.S - Do enough late night searches and you'll probably see it. Make sure you reload Google between searches to reset your server. Maybe I'm wrong but what I saw was a big win for Google. It shook me so badly that I sold my 3 highest earning websites because they got destroyed with what I saw.

However there is not a thing we can do to brainstorm until we get a good look at it and can test it out on a regular basis. I have my own ideas and those have to do with changing the kinds of sites we build but its all pointless until we get a good and long look at this thing and can run tests.

Social media is becoming more important for sure, but who will ever like a payday loan site? Oh yeah, I have a yeast infection and I love this website offering me a cure! Hey, Facebook friends, my **** is really small, here is how to get a bigger one or at least try to!

Your suggestion is good, but although my examples may be extremes, social media isn't a really promising option for many niches.

I'm not claiming to be some kind of SEO expert in fact the whole concept of doing a stack of work then, the G comes along and changes the game..leaves me cold..

As far as I can see it looks like more weight is given to branding rather than the SEO and keyword rich domain names..

I recently had about 30 domains deindexed just went in to godaddy and deleted them..I felt a bit miffed at first but, it was my own fault.

Anyways, it has served to wake me up and start thinking outside the box..

Just for fun, one domain that was deindexed was replaced at no 1 page 1 with a freaking CB hoplink..

G knows we are all trying to game it in some way or other natural looking or simply brute force...

have to edit because my keyboard is not only a bad speller it's grammer is also bad

Ouch, sorry to hear of your loss. I am not a big marketer, but have several sites. I would say forget all the networks you bolded. Google seems intent on making those kinds of network obsolete. Don't waste your money on things that are fading out.

I suggest you wrap your head around doing some other things you probably heard of, but did not do. I am gearing up to do more of this myself.

On page optimization is really important, but not over using the keywords.

Things like guest posting, blog commenting in a non spammy way, press releases, posting to sharing sites, using social sites such as facebook, twitter and google plus will work.

For the next couple months none of us really know what is going to do it, I don't think. But you can be doing the tried and true stuff that is working for people still.

Things are changing and we can get an ulcer or have a breakdown as chunks of the business disappear or are in a dance -Or- we can change and do something new. Me, I decided to make some changes. This includes relying on Google less and less.

Here was an interesting presentation on this. Not the post so much, but the presentation at the bottom of the post. At about 50 minutes are the things suggested that are still working. Blog Networks Dropping Like Flies - Is The Sky Falling? | PotPieGirl.com

We make sure that every site is 1.5 to 2.0% density per broad keyword we are trying to target. I have however ranked sites to rank 1 without even a 0.1% density of a keyword or even mentioning it. I ranked 1 for back taxes without even having the word on the page at all. I ranked 1 for American flags with 0% density as well. Onpage is important yes, but there are many instances where I have ranked keywords without it. I guess without a major network now it will be a must.

Thanks for adding to this. I have never used the blog commenting myself, because I have always felt this is spam in a way and it gets deindexed pretty quickly. I guess if you where to find very big blogs and comment like you said in a non spammy way it could work yea. Press releases will always work. Social sites I feel will be a must for site presence. I am doing a test right now and have ranked up a site using social bookmarking and social sites and nothing else, not 1 other type of link and I hold rank 3 for it, it's a 18,100 exact search term too. Not bad for just those types of links. We are trying many new tactics everyday to see what works, but so far, it's just soso.

Not asking you to figure out what I did wrong. I know what I did wrong lol. I am simply asking everyone to get together and figure out the new tactics. I have a team of many and sure we can figure it out in time to come, but why not work together and figure it out faster? I don't care about releasing this to the public, this will get read by 1000 people tops, not the whole world. There isn't a pattern lol, it's an honest forum for trying to figure out something.

Me and you - ain't happening. What I figure out it's not for a public forum with spying eyes from Google and other companies. It's a private subject, especially NOW.

But honestly, do you really think anyone with half a brain in this industry will reveal what we do to keep our ass (and income) on the safe side?

I can tell you that you alone will not figure it out. I have insider, a very reliable one that has never steered me wrong. His latest comments started off, get ready for something new. After that it was a long conversation of a new algorithm that was going to take place and other than that, that's all his department knows. This still helps no one, to understand how we can rank up in the coming future.

I can tell you this, everything you think you know now, will amount to nothing in a short time to come. Plan on everything you know about SEO going to dust. It's coming very very soon.

Ethical tactics will soon take a new meaning to SEO. Very soon!

We had both.. They both got hit, it didn't matter. We never even got a notice like other sites. Other sites like bmr got hit at first and then thought they just got a few sites deindexed and the next think you know everything did. We got hit all in 1 day.

is one I use. Free month trial. It's getting a makeover soon. I highly suggest getting in now before they split it off into it's own service. Save you some (or even a lot of) money, and will get you the rest of the TKA package for the same subscription.

Not sure what you link even is. I went to the site to look, but it just looks like a company that is trying to sell something, but doesn't specify what it does exactly.

TKA is a course that teaches how to build profitable websites. You can also subscription to their forum which is a pretty good resource and well worth the +$3/mo IMO.

The portion that applies to this discussion here though is that it has a network of user owned blogs that you can post to. It's called Postrunner. You can choose the specific blogs you want to submit to. Each blog can accept or deny the post, each has it's own requirements and standards. Works pretty well to facilitate guest posting on blogs in specific niches. There are a lot of "general" sites too, but I like to keep to the niche blogs and extra requirements, because those are almost always much higher quality.

Lol at all the haters, unless you are working on the Google anti-spam team there is no way to know EXACTLY what they are gunning for and what works best to rank a site right after a new update. Doesn't matter if you have 1 site or 6k sites.

Back on topic, I've also had good results with bookmarks. I'm leaning more towards social and manual commenting & posting on relevant sites. I was using ALN and BMR, I had about 6 sites deindexed and went from earning $50 per day to $0 per day so I've learned my lesson and won't be using any networks from now on.

SEO won't be about a single person being able to take 25 sites to the top by themselves. It will be about companies having many employees doing many different things for each company and without it, you can't keep up. It will no longer be buy this subscription for $150 a month at bmr and rank your site up, or buy this senuke x software and run it all day to attain page rank / rankings for keywords, tier 2 submissions. It will be, bust you a** and manually do everything from here on out. There will be no more WSO, or link package, or network, forum blasts, blog blasts, or anything of this nature that works anymore. It has come to an end. I can tell you this, no one will be able to do it all themselves and there is plenty of websites in this world for everyone to work on.

Chances are, all of us combined can't come up with the new tactics it will take to rank up sites in the upcoming algorithm change.

Honestly, this won't happen. Quality links already have become more important over the years, but mass automation will always work in one way or another. The guys at Google are more clever than 99% of us here, more clever than me, but if you have a look how much manual work went into de-indexing all those blog network sites and how many are still left, the realistic conclusion is: The algorithm is far from automatically detecting and separating spammy links from "legit" ones, or good content from bad content.

Remember paid links and all the scare tactics from Google? What happened? Not much, SEOs are buying links like before and it works fine if you aren't a total idiot. Google wouldn't use the attention whore tactics and try to spread fear with their "unnatural links" messages if they'd have a real remedy against link networks or automated link building.

After many years, Google found the magic formula and will change the whole "it's about links" thing they sticked to for ages all at once? Na, sorry, I don't buy it!

Instead of looking at particular networks, look at overall diversity.

Your goal should be to build the most helpful site possible, with as large a diversity and consistency in your backlinks. Write down all of the different "types" of links (blogs, social bookmarks, profiles, social, etc.) and then make sure that your site hits all of them effectively. New sites should start slow with great distribution, and then you grow them as time goes on.

There is no one-size-fits-all linkbuilding method anymore, and those that find one are going to be in for a world of hurt when Google places their focus on weeding it out and devaluing it.

Can i just ask, is your seo plan above what you are asking for moving forward, or what you previously did to your 6,000 sites? What baffles me is how you could have had 6,000 sites that were of decent quality, and how you managed that previously? I would be in a better position to offer advice when I know a little on the networks previous history. We have had a lot of experience on working with large networks and the requirements of keeping them "legit". Any interlinking between your sites? Where they all hosted in the same place? Also, the warning from google, was this received from webmaster tools?

Just ranked a 9k traffic, competitive niche keyword at position #2 in Google SERPs yesterday.

Did that with 100% on-page SEO on an established site.

I do have other similar type niche keywords already ranked decent, but I've never had this keyword anyplace on my site & never a single external backlink with this keyword in the anchor-text.

The only reason I can see that this page ranked was because of keyword relevancy, with my existing ranked pages/keywords.

Apparently my competition didn't get hit this last week, I see the usual competition on the first SERP page. So I don't think me ranking this page was because of a bunch of other sites falling in the SERPs.

Again, so far all I see is relevancy ranking this page/keyword.

Interesting... I just got notice that a major private network is now going private to keep their network a live. Maybe this is an option until we get hit by the major update and then networks won't work anymore at all.

I don't think this update is so much about links as so many of the posts in this thread so far suggest. One of my sites that has ranked #1 & 2 in google.com for a couple of years now was bumped down to #3 (behind a .co.uk site & Wikipedia) & #17 in US search results. I have not been doing any kind of link building to this site for a couple of years now. Links have come naturally from organic blog reviews, natural forum posts (from others I don't know), newspaper articles & magazine articles. I still rank #1 & 2 in Google in .ca for my main terms, but lost my #3 ranking to page #2.

Other sites of mine that I have been working on linking for have jumped in rankings with this update.

With the results I have seen, I think links play a much smaller role in this Google update than has been talked about in this thread.

Could it be that on-site SEO & unique content requirements are being completely redefined?

It's possible. But then again it's possible that with Google taking out so many blog networks they felt ok with making links more important. Or that by eliminating so many links from the link graph the surviving ones are weighted more.

If you look at PPC Adwords and who plays major role there are big companies who can afford to pay high CPC. Google as a big company prefer big companies and thus will prefer them in SERP's too full stop.

Makes no sense, Google wants to fleece big companies for PPC so they favour them in the SERPS so they get free traffic?

and what really were the PR makeup? Doesn't seem credible to me that you can maintain good quality on 6,000 sites. Plus even at $50 per aged domains that would be over a quarter of a million. You would have to be making coin so your drop back position would not be Bookmarking

          Gearmonkey and others,

If you are using wpunique you need to remove it asap! I have already gotten 3 sites deindexed for using this plugin and many others are getting slapped for using it recently. I couldn't figure out what was going on with my sites until I did a search "google knows about wpunique" and click the 2nd result at traffic planet..you will be shocked at how many people have recently gotten deindexed for using wpunique. So we now know that the google bot can either officially distinguish the html characters in the text or read into your sites plugin files and zap you for having whatever they are looking for which in this case is wpunique.

What is your new strategy given what's happened and how do you go about finding quality forums to reply in, blog sites to post in, etc. in layman's terms?

    Thanks for your contribution.

What I figure is that backlinks will count only if it is relevant to your site. I think if you get a backlink from a site that has nothing to do with your site that backlink will not carry any weight. And google will most probably figure that out and include that in how the SERPs are shown. Its all about relevancy.
      Just my 2c.

Thanks Mrehan. I've heard people here talk about posting replies in forums however, I've done this in the past on high PR sites but the links never got indexed.

Just wanted to update this post: as of today, checks are showing that Rankjumpers has been fully deindexed. Another one bites the dust.
