Hi Guys

I just checked my stats for a few of my sites in Google Analytics, and most of them dive bomed after March 21st. I've noticed when I seach in Google, there are a lot of things showing above my sites like google places (local) and also videos (from youtube, ehow etc).

Has anybody else found this, or know what is going on? Or is it something to do with Google policy changes (uhhh, which they kept asking me to read but I somehow didn't get around to it).

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Phil

Found your problem. Read and understand the TOS for anything that is attached to your business in any way shape or form.

As far as your specific situation, buy any link packages or link wheels for that site? Seems Google is targeting those pretty heavily.

I think I've probably used those type of link building strategies at one point or another on most of my sites. Oh man, I'm screwed! Google sucks balls!

Take it as a lesson learned. Using short term gain type practices isn't the best strategy. It's fun while you ride the wave; but it always inevitably crashes. Focus on your users experience when they come to your site. The rankings come naturally if you focus on that.

Do you have Google webmaster tools?

If so check the messages on there, if you have been penalized for bad linking practices they will tell you.

If you don't have it sign up.

RE: Webmaster Tools - Yeah, funny enough I tried that a moment ago, and there are no messages from Google. I heard Andrew Hansen talking about this, so that's what made me go and look, but nothing. So, it could be something else, it's a mystery (an expensive one).

In a video earlier I was watching of Matt Cutts he said if no message is sent then that isn't the reason your site has been penalized.

He mentioned that if Google does penalize you they will send a message to allow you to rectify it.

Maybe Google simply determined that the other results were more relevant than yours.

Blog networks have been getting tanked. If you've built your links too heavily with ALN, AR, etc. then that's probably the source.

Sometimes, I've noticed after a Google update, things fly around the SERPS for a few days and then settle down? Here's hoping.

I've good news and bad news.. bad news first,

It happened to 1 of my site which I've applied tremendous "illegal" backlinks too, mostly blackhat and Senuke X.. Online Digital Watch Store now I couldn't even find it within the 100 page

    Now, here's the good news,

My squeeze page (IM niche) suddenly ranked in page 1, I was surprised.. How can a squeeze page possibly rank in page 1 especially in the IM or MMO niche..

FREE Video - It's Time to Work Smart Instead of Just Working Hardautomated-passive-income.com

    Keyword search: automated passive income

I did not do any blackhat backlinkings etc.. I just include a blog (mediocre, not very nice looking) in it with a few unique content + a little social networking..

So with this little case studies, I hope you (and everyone else) understand that it's no longer the blackhat that works.. hmm yeah, it might work in the short term but once google does an update, you can say bye bye to your website.. It's already happening to me, you and a lot more out there...

It's time for Whitehat, there's an old saying "if you can't fight them join them" .. it's okay if you don't join them but just don't go annoy them because they will slaughter you.. I'm just saying

    Hope this help,
    Jeremiah

Phil since Google update Venice you get results depending on your IP location. Change location and you will get slightly different results. This may include videos, news, etc. Not all keywords were affected. The best example of a keyword that was affected is "pizza".

Some sites that were targeting keywords globally took a big hit in traffic.

I saw the same in October 14, 2011, when my rankings and traffic
collapsed dramatically, about 90 % for one site!

The reason was, surprise surprise, Google Panda update,
which downgraded the article directories ( or some of them )
to content farms, so the links were not worth much any more.

I got angry and wondered how Google can do this for me.
What was a good SEO earlier was banned during one single day.

After pondering and blaiming I admitted that the only way out is
to read, what Google algorithms want now
      and to execute them.

      That`s it!

Google already blocked/cancelled link wheel strategy last year.

and I did not use any link wheel type strategy for ongoing projects. than why this happened?

I am still searching for answers.....

at least Google should tell us now what type of backlinks are going to trash and what usual techniques going down and up?
