Best Article Publishing Site? Squidoo, Hubpages or Ezine

You can always go to Alexa.com to find which site has the highest rankings. I believe ezines is the highest ranking so from a backlinking perspective I would assume they have the highest PRs

Ezine is a very different beast from Squidoo and Hubpages. With Ezine and other article directories (such as Go Articles and Articlebase) your article may be republished on other sites including the resource box with your link in it, thereby increasing the number of links back to your site. You can submit identical articles to different article directories. The value of these links has been debated endlessly here.

This is not the case with Squidoo/Hubpages. The issue with these is that the terms and conditions are getting increasingly stringent - so you have to ensure that the lenses/hubs you create are unique, have some informative value and are not overly commercial. Hubpages are initially nofollow, but become dofollow as the rank increases. Both Squidoo and Hubpages allow you to put affiliate links in them (although Clickbank links are not permitted on Hubpages) which is not the case on article directories.

In answer to your question, they each have value and my understanding is that search engines favour a variety of inbound links. So use each of them, but don't copy your articles from article directories to Squidoo/Hubpages otherwise your lenses/hubs will be deleted.

Since hubpages allows you a subdomain, you have more control over the quality and ranking factors of your page. You can build backlinks to it and treat it just like your site.

Subdomains in essence are seperate sites and are not judged based on the rest of the site. So, hubpages is the way to go right now.

I would recommend one place where all your content should first be published, and that is your own blog or website. Your own 'real estate' is surely where you should be enticing people, not somewhere else, where only a pitiful few will actually take action and click on your links. In most instances, they will click on the other website's links and make money for them. :rolleyes:

You have to go with the site that's going to give you the most "bang for your buck" - and, by that, I mean the site that's going to give you the most exposure and the biggest chance for syndication. As far as I know, out of the 3 you're considering, that's going to be EZA.

Bear in mind that the links you get from all 3 sites are all going to be the same - PR0, non-relevant links. The "real" links you're after in this case are the ones you're going to get from people syndicating your content.

I would start by distinguishing very clearly between article directories and other sites. They're totally different. Their purposes, functions, terms of service and what you can publish there are totally different. It's unproductive to try to compare apples and clarinets all in the same sentence, without first appreciating the differences between them.

I would say, the best place to post your unique article is on your own blog or website.. Have it indexed first before posting to other article directories like EZA.. (yes, you're able to do that..) but I don't think you're able to do it in squidoo or hubpages

You have to force them to get Indexed in Search Engines. Submit the articles you have on EzineArticles to bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon, Mixx, Dig etc.

  With all article directories, over time your articles can gain a high PR. I have some that are PR5. At least with ezinearticles they are dofollow, and some directories are not. Regardless, in terms of current, internal, on-going traffic...I feel that ezinearticles is dead.
  
  If you look through the categories going back a few months, the articles barely have any views compared to say 2 years ago.
  
  The question is are you trying to do link building or get exposure to your site? they are like 2 different things which sometimes can line up.

This is something that different people are going to have mixed feelings about. I know that Squido used to be the one to go to then they gradually started losing authority in google's rankings. Hubpages normally ranks a little better, but they are more strict with what they allow you to write. Ezine is getting to be a better place for article marketing again now that they too have stricter rules when it comes to posting. My opinion would to be to try them and see which you like best.. Make sure you read there TOS and backlink when allowed for best results.

As far as I understand there are two ways of submitting articles to those sites.
1. You submit your articles that already exist on your site( after getting indexed)
2. You only submit unique articles with a link back to your site.
Which is better?

The first is far better and far more sensible.

There's not much point in submitting to an article directory something which you haven't first had published and indexed on your own site.

There are some people doing so, but they may not fully appreciate the differences between "original" and "unique" content. Their perceptions on this subject certainly tend to be very different from Google's, anyway!

(They're also mostly the people starting off the threads with titles like "Article Marketing Doesn't Work Any More" - because, for them, it tends not to!).

Squidoo does not want your articles. It is NOT an article publishing site, as others have said.

Posting articles that are meant to be used only as backlinks - first is awkward with squidoo's method of publishing - and second may get your lenses locked and deleted.

They seem so similar, almost as if they were set up by the same company. However, Squidoo is easier to use by far. Hubpages could develop more of a "caring approach" for newbies.

If I really need to/have to use an article submission site then I prefer Ezinearticles. As others have said Squidoo isn't an article directory.

Hubpages is popular among those who want to monetize their content. In my opinion, Ezine Articles is the best option. First of all, it drives tons of traffic. Secondly, it allows other webmasters to republish your content along with your byline.

For hubpages, squidoo etc the answer is YES, since they share revenue.

If Google find your links in article directories that is only there to build back-links to manipulate search result position, they will mark it as un-natural links and you will have to remove all links later, to get ranking again.

Then read this also

Earlier, Ezinearticles did wonders for me. It was easy to get good rankings and use affiliate links on GoArticles and get good rankings too. However, the game has changed big time lately, hubpages/squidoo pages works better on the long run though. You need to make a good hub/squidoo to make the most of it. Just an initial page wouldn't help.

Since you're doing for SEO purposes, no.

I can't believe that this hasn't been said here, but if you want your content to produce good results in search engines, it will be a waste to publish it on "content farms". You can get some results, don't get me wrong, but chances are you don't have a strategy behind your publishing, so the impact will be minimal.

Here's a better route...

Find bloggers in your niche and get them to publish your article... OR.. build a network of sites (with decent page rank) that will help boost your main domain and publish your articles in your network of sites.
