Is adsense enough?

What if I totally depend on adsense income. Does it really have the potential to make reasonable income for me? I tried using clickbank and amazon but no response. I monetize only with adsense but it hasn't made me enough money yet. I was just wondering if internet marketers think adsense can be the only way of monetization.

  • If you get A LOT of traffic it will be enough.

Adsense is the scariest source of income though, google bans you for the smallest discrepancy

I would never rely on adsense for anything

    • Agreed. I was banned from adsense about 2 weeks ago for something that wasn't even my fault.

    • Exactly this.

I was making decent money off adsense and then... BAM. I got the banhammer since someone click bombed me.
  • well, it depends on how much traffic you are getting, what is your niche?
  • The problem is that the foundation on which those earnings come from is not 100% guaranteed.

A small search engine algo update or suspicious behavior can literally knock out all your traffic or have your account terminated.

It is usually the best idea to place adsense on your site along side other affiliate offers and perhaps capture peoples emails for your email list while providing an incentive.

    • That's exactly it. In answer to the specific OP question though, yes of course it can yield 'enough' technically with the right traffic, CTR and CPC, but as stated it may not be the most 'secure' or reliable income source...
  • We've been earning a lot of money with Adsense for years, as have hundreds & hundreds of our forum members and course customers.

  • I recently read that one big microniche site maker has several adsense accounts. He has a personal one and then also has several businesses registered so he can have different adsense accounts under each. If you are doing a lot of adsense sites it sounds like a great way to split them up so they aren't all at risk at once. Anyone else heard of this?

    • Have you ever heard the saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket!"

      No adsense is not enough!!

You want to concentrate on building a business.

Build lists from your traffic and learn how to sell to them

Have you considered using Amazon as well as adsense.

You can build mini lists and then market Amazon Products to them
during holidays, etc. Offer free report for them to sign up.

example on a microwave site -
"95 out of 100 Amazon Customers that bought a microwave last month
bought the _______ model.... Discover why they did and what they
realized after a weeks use...Real customer reviews revealed"

[Just a quick headline... Was off top of head!]

You know you can design a free opt in report for every site...

Build lists from your traffic and learn how to sell to them

No one can take that away from you!!!

Google is extremely unpredictable so don't focus all your efforts
on Adsense. Imagine for a second that you had build 20 sites and
was bringing in 3k a month in adsense and then overnight you were
      banned... What would you do???

    • Yeah that's the way to go!
If you want to go big with adsense that's what you gonna do! Having 10 different businesses set up for adsense can reduce the risks A LOT! If you than also traget niches that have backup marketing options (just in case sites get flagged) and you are great at seo and also provide very high quality content you can make a fortune with adsense. And like i said there are ways to reduce the riksy bigtime even if your main income come from adsense.

BTW for this business model to work you really have to focus on the guideslines of google. For me as en example i am paying 15$-20$ per HIGH quality article and make sure the design and everything else is awesome for a perfect user experience. I also ain't using cheap or automated linkbuilding techniques that can look spammy in the eyes if google and will likly get your site slapped when future algo changes happen.
My sites cost a ton more than most sites that use adsense which makes my visitors happy which in the end makes google happy. This plus 10 accounts can be a very good business model with limited risks imo!

btw: sorry my english isn't the best
  • None of the new posts are addressing the topic of simply setting up separate businesses that each have adsense accounts. That way you would almost certainly only lose one of those accounts, not all. You might lose 25% but you wouldn't lose 100%. That also is a way of diversifying.
  • I've had adsense since like 2005. I dont know why people have so many problems with it unless you're doing shady business.

However, they do change all the time now, which is scary and knocking a lot of people out of their job in a 2 day period .. sometimes overnight.

Adsense is GREAT if you have a real site you update day to day, but there are better I'm sure. None other will find such agreat advertisers however.

All about your niche and how much users click around.

    • You are making assumptions there, I lost my $4000 income because Google changed the algo back in 2006 and I went from having over 1,000,000 indexed pages to having about 1,000. One month I earned $4,000 the next it was about $400

They did the same last year with Panda and people were affected and the same last week with blog networks.

  • I am not getting enough adsense clicks on my website?
  • In my opinion Adsense cannot be anyone's main source of income, unless you target High CPC keywords or got a HUGE number of traffic coming to your website.

You can start with Affiliates and other forms of Internet Marketing.

Remember Adsense can also be a very good way to earn $1000s a month. Don't let the other let you down. IF YOU WANT, it can be your MAIN SOURCE of income!

You just gotta work hard and never give up
  • No way can you rely on Adsense!
  • Adsense is a great way to learn how to research, build and montertize sites while still making some money whether it is alot of or a little bit. If you can rank Adsense sites and drive traffic to them you can replicate that to Affiliate, CPA and your own product sites. The thing I liked most about Adsense was that even when I made a dollar in a day I thought it was a great achievement, I definitely have upscaled that and earn alot more but through Adsense experience know how to replicate that success to products as well.
  • You will find many no and many yes here on this issue. But for me i had used it and its generating 1k+ income from just one site so i cant say its not useful or not sufficient.

  • Your account may be banned at any movement, you are earning enough and all things are going fine but suddenly your account will banned by Google. Dont depend on single adsense account

    • Even if we have many acounts, we can't use another account on a site on which adsense was banned previously. Is it?
      • [1] reply
  • it depends on the number of traffic you get and the price of the click and CTR
  • Sure, you can make thousands of dollars monthly from ad sense. I have seen people who have own an ad sense account and business for almost a decade and still going strong.

The truth is, it is not the best to rely on ad sense or any business model hundred percent, you have got to have a plan b in order to be on the safer side.
  • I would always use the best performing monetization method. I don't care about having all my eggs in one basket (or not) because I know if the best performing service kicks me out, I can easily move all my eggs to the next best performing service. There's no point moving to 2nd best before it's necessary though.

(Not that Adsense is the best monetization method. Sometimes it's pretty good, sometimes it sucks compared to the alternatives. It's usually the best contextual ad service though.)
  • If done properly, AdSense can be a great source of generating revenue. But you cannot completely rely on AdSense for income as Google may hold back your revenue for one or other reason.

  • im in agreement with those saying you need to diversify. It takes time but you can build up an adsense empire that generates a full time income. However, why limit yourself when there is potential for so much more with the amount of sites you would have by then.
