Yes, there were reports that UAW's blogs were getting hit but IMO UAW died a long time ago. It was only good to build backlinks to 1st and 2nd tier links. I tested their service out about 6 months ago directly to a money site and I experienced negative rankings.

Sorry to hear about the de-indexing but that move was risky

I don't know if that is necessarily true IM Ash, from my own niche sites as well as a few other's who are talking about. UAW did not get hit as hard and isn't 100% dead. UAW did not own the blog's / web 2.0 / article directories it posted to so it fell into a different category.

However it did get somewhat affected as SOME of the sites it posted to got de-indexed. I do agree that it is a very risky move and I would strongly suggest diversifying your backlinks ASAP as it is only a matter of time.

public blog networks are dying. Not all are dead, perhaps after the dust settles, they'll come back. Right now it's best to find small (underground) blognetworks. Those are flourishing better than ever right now.

Where are you guys getting this stuff?? UAW is not "dead". I have several sites that use UAW exclusively and they are still doing fine. Same with several other members here. That's not to say they won't tank in the future, but as for being completely dead, not true...at all.

Well, whether or not they are completely dead or just dying or even recovering isn't really clear, but one thing is: Google has it out for public blog networks. If you really care about the security of your business, the safest thing to do – I don't think anybody can argue with me here – is to start migrating away from platforms like UAW.

From what I understand of the OP you're actually depending on their plug-in to generate content on your site, and this is something that I would definitely move away from (if the de-indexing didn't tell you that loud and clear already). Even though there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty, there is such a thing as domain trust (call it PR, Trust rank, whatever...) and having unique content is one way to generate that.

Be careful...I thought the same thing to and all of a sudden one of my sites that relied heavily on UAW backlinks has fell off the rankings. I check to see if it was banned or handed a google penalty and negative. So I am assuming that the backlinks lost their weight.

I truly believe it is a matter of time now before they all get hit...Have you logged in to UAW lately? If you had, you would have notice their new policy which ask for anyone working for the search engines identify themselves. Basically you have to agree to these new terms to login.

Where there's smoke...there's fire. Sadly, I cancelled my membership. I really hope I am wrong, but I believe that they are doomed too.

Those people who run these networks have absolutely no clue with their lame policy's to identify yourself or sign NDA agreements (hope I put the right name lol).

Like Google gives a ****, they've done much worse things in the past, like scraping a whole yellowpages kinda site in some poor african country. Yeah later on they said it was the responsiblility of one of the local Google Managers but later on it continued from India so draw your own conclusions from that. Google is way too powerfull to get chased away by some silly agreements. People can't proof it anyway so what's holding them from it.

Has your site just dropped in the rankings or has it been completely de-indexed did you search in Google site:yoursite.com and then no results?

Not trying to insult your intelligence, but just thought I would ask. If you are de-indexed there will be no results.

It depends some people have had their sites de-indexed who are part of UAW...

I would just say stay away from those sites Google know about them for years now.. But they are on their way out guaranteed

Build links the smart way.... by interlinking within your own sites content

Writing long articles for your website 1500-2000 words do that for 3 months everyday write one article you will see a excellent results

Hmm interesing post about uaw, i was thinking about trying it because most of all of their blogs are owned by others, so its not a private blog network in theory. So i don't see how google can crack it ? if there are 100's of blogs owned by different people?

UAW cant be compared to other blog networks because most of the domains are not owned by the owner of UAW.

If you are concerned about using it on your money site than I'd advise it to use on your 1st and 2nd tier links and gauge its effectiveness on your own

    Cheers

      Interesting post about UAW.
I thought UAW is an awesome service when I read up one of Pat Flynn's post on how to use UAW as a part of the backlinking strategy. Here's the post: The Backlinking Strategy That Works.

However, I do have a question on the reliability of UAW. Does UAW reveal the sites that they submitted the articles to? I found a youtube video review regarding on this issue, not sure if the reviewer is saying the truth.

Hope to hear some opinions on this.

I really hope UAW is not dead yet. All my rankings for my clients are still doing great. I do use UAW alot for their sites. and all of them are ranking good. I also use AR. Backlinkenergizer.

What is an alternative that we can use?

BMR actually owns their network (each Domain). BMR, in Google's view, is actually selling links. UAW does not own the individual domain names. UAW's blog network is owned by many individuals and this is what differentiates them from BMR.

That's not to say that UAW won't fall under Google's heel, they very well may. I am just pointing out that while these two services are similar they are not exactly the same and going after UAW will be a little more difficult for Google to do.

If however, you are using the UAW Plugin I would highly recommend disabling it as this would provide a way for Google to link you to UAW. I would also put a hold on any UAW projects you have, at least until we see which way the wind will blow where UAW is concerned.

I had a 3 month old site that was on page two for two pretty competitive terms. I had botw.org and many other expensive directories on it.

I wrote some articles on UAW, now my site is not to be found. I don't know if it was building links too fast, or over-optimizing by using my keywords too much.

The thing is, Google just completely changed the rules. Then, they penalize you for doing it how they told you to do it last year.

I have another site that is a bit older, I'm using uaw on that with no problem. It has helped me.

I'm thinking you just have to go very slowly with this. Do not use exact anchor text. Do not add too many links at once. Once your site is 9 months old, it can take a few more links.

Google is suffering financially and they want to drive everyone to adwords. Notice how the top 5-6 results are all governmental sites now. They are driving the little guy out of business.

Also-- I think it is insane that they submit your article to 25 sites per day. Absolutely insane. At one time, that might have been OK. It is not any more.

They should have an easy option of 6 resource boxes to vary your anchor text as much as possible. In the meantime, I will just stop my article submission in the middle and change the anchor text. I am also doing about 2 submissions per day on a lot of my sites.

Totally agree.. I did go straight into the 25 subs a day trap... DONT DO IT.. for the record.. UAW is not dead and the articles imo experience do get indexed. BUT the one to suffer the penalty is the site you link to. Keep it at 5-10 MAX, vary and mix up the resource boxes..
I am no expert, but a logical assumption and the best way for G to limit the amount of bad contents would be to give domain/site age more weight, using the assumption that a webmaster can only write that many articles a day and do so many backlinks.. anything above that will send you straight to the sandbox.. But off course Authority sites, newspapers etc. would be the exerpt from this rule.. I think time is the key here.. build the site.. backlink slowly over 2-3 months and dont expect much before after 6 months or so. That would give you a "Keeper" site that would stick through most of the Google fury storms.. Rushed sites made to bring income in 1-2 months are like thin branches in a storm.

I have a couple of sites which we were trialling with UAW, and they have seen some small falls over the weekend despite being relatively steady for months.

UAW has removed all the URL's off the site, but if anyone has any saved maybe you could check to see if they have been deindexed?

Well, I have seen some boucing of ranks (and thats often normal with young sites). That beeing said the rankings are currently not were they ought to be competition vs IM effort wise. The articles are indexed yes, but if the value of them has dropped or a certain percentage has been deindexed is hard to say. But would love to hear if anyone have some more precise info or inside jipper jabber ;-)

I was dripping links to one of my sites. It was on page 20, is now on page 28. I paid for directories from submit edge, so this is not a MFA site.

It is so easy for Google to discount links coming from sites that use the UAW plugin.

I put the plugin on a few of my sites and got really rubbish articles.

Another site I put links on from UAW was 9 months old, the links don't seem to have harmed it.

I think UAW is not telling people they are not accepting new customers to keep people from leaving them, in case they want to go back at some point. It is a lot of money to spend and time also, if the links are going to be devalued at some point.

I'm thinking of guest posting at this point. I figure if BMR was so effective for people, if you write your own articles and put them on high PR sites, that should work just as well, but it is totally legitimate and the links should not go away.

Has anyone heard of submit your article? submityourarticle.com?

They have the option to submit to the major article directories as well as to NOT spin your article before it is put on people's blogs.

I also submitted a request for reconsideration for the site I spent $800 on, that tanked due to UAW. I have not heard back yet.

I cancelled my UAW. I told them they needed to suggest a lower link velocity and fewer submissions per day. They are the cause of their own demise. They recommend 25 articles per day and that is not cutting it. They are causing newbies like me to be penalized.
