  • Hi Saif,

Google shows results based on different factors including your IP address (location) and the language of your operating system/browser. If your proxy is in the USA while you're in the UK, even if you're using Google.com on both searches there could be difference in the SERPs.

The other possible explanation is if your site is Google updating their algorithm. What this means is that recent changes in on page or off page factors of your site have caused Google's algorithm to treat your website differently. The algorithm is rolled out to different servers at different times, so your proxy could be seeing a server that has been updated while your browser is still seeing the server that hasn't been updated. Google has thousands of servers so it's not possible for them to roll out an update simultaneously.

    • What I conclude from you points is that I have to wait about 24 hours to update all servers of google. May be after some time it will show on my normal search result.

  • I have found my website when I search on first page. then using a different computer, I can't find. So I have seen this first hand. It is confusing for SEO efforts.
What is true? Would love to hear more on this subject.
  • Yeah, the location of the page can really vary from where you're located. I've had sites where Statcounter reported that the user clicked it as the 1st result on the first page where I will search for it and it comes up as number 10.

    • Then What did you do when you known about this?
  • Clear off the cookies and search again. Also beside your geo location (ip address) the search results also vary based on the time when you search, like in the morning or afternoon.

    • I did as you said but same result. the only thing what i realize is that google servers takes time to update so we have to wait until these server update. is it right?
