Hi. I have tried a few serp tools like serprush and serp genie. But I wanted to know everyone elses opinion on which have you found the most accurate tool to check your serp position. Are there any free tools that work better than a paid serp tool?

Thank you for your share on this...

For me Rank Tracker of the SEO PowerSuite does fine. Never found any inaccurate results using it.

I use the Free Monitor For Google from CleverStat Web ranking and SEO software, website promotion, search engine optimization tools - CleverStat.com

The results are always accurate, in my experience.

I like Rank Tracker and Advanced Web Ranking. Especially prefer AWR bc it will run despite your PC turned off, and every time you load it, your ranks will be automatically updated.

You can use Rank Tracker (paid) or use the rank checker integrated into Market Samurai (I think it is only available in the paid version). The checker in MS goes 10 pages deep in the SERPs to check where you site is currently at.

I've been using Cuterank Pro for over a year, it seems quite nice:

cuterank dot net (I can't post links yet)

The free version is limited, but I've found it to be exceedingly helpful.

I think the best is Google Webmaster Tools because they're the Search Engine and they're the company that provide all data about your site.

Check the one in my signature. It uses private proxies, with no caching of results from google. Results will vary between tools, but go with one that makes it easy and fast to check without having to re-enter your keywords each time.

It's also a website, not an app and it's free.

Traffic Travis is really good. However, I've found the most accurate way is to just check them yourself. For really important sites, I check them myself, the rest, I use Traffic Travis.

I usually check SERPs on manually basis but sometimes use this tool for quick lookup: Position Checker, Position Finder

I was using that and for a while it worked, then it stopped working and just gave me false results.

I'm looking for something cheaper than $100 that will work good.

Since no one mentions prices in their comments above, I am in the process of going through them to see...

If anyone can recommend one that is substantially cheaper than $100 to buy, please post.

    Meanwhile here's my comments:

Rank Tracker costs $100, that's the problem with it. The free version is practically useless because you can't save/export results.

Rank Checker from SEOBook (Firefox plug in) worked great for me for months (FREE) - the ideal tool imho - and then suddenly stopped working with google a few weeks ago. So far I can't figure out why it is giving me blanks for google. Which is why I'm looking for another one.

Position Checker, Position Finder - not thorough enough, only shows the top 100 and I don't think it's accurate either. But it's free.

SerpBook - $3-12/month. Don't know how it works. Rather than pay that I'd buy Rank Tracker for $100. But I'm hoping to find something cheaper than either one that works well. I don't need fancy features, just accurate results on 30-40 keywords per site and the ability to do 3-4 sites per day.

serppagerank.com - works good for free; thanks for this recommendation!

http://cuterank.net/ - This is free and looks good. I'll have to download it later when I get a chance and report back on how well it works.

CleverStat.com looks like it might be a winner as well, offering both free and cheaper services/software.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

Hmmmm....you didn't mention you checked out whatsmyserp.com. It is free and has a lot of functionality and is very accurate especially if you are ranked in the top 25. We pull results direct from google. Also it is a website, not an app, so no worries about malware, etc. and you can access your data from anywhere. We also use our own private proxies so no worries about google blocking you.

Give it a try. We know the price is right, free!

What a coincidence - I came here to remark that Whatsmyserp.com is in fact a really great free tool that I use often. I find that I check my serps more often from work where I don't have MS or RankTracker loaded, so whatsmyserp is a great free alternative. I recommend it to all.

Market Samurai doesn't do much of anything very well, and their rank tracker has especially sucked over the years. If you are going to spend $100+, might as well get a tool that actually works.

PowerSuite's Rank Tracker or Advanced Web Ranking are the two best of the desktop applications.

I used to use Raven but they decided to remove their SERP tracker tool, it is a shame because that software was awesome at first.
