Hi masters,

I have a question for you. Are a WordPress blog, A Blogger one, A Tumblr one and so on combined considered a Private Blog Network? To elaborate, if you have 10 different blogs on all popular blog portals updated frequently with quality relevant content without unique domains of own, could it be considered as a good example of Private Blog Network? Also if you access and post to all blogs from the same computer does it really matter? Then again I want to understand when we talk about different C Class IPs, does it really matter if you use VPN, Proxies, etc. for posting or it is just a matter of domain/hosting characteristics. Then again, if the IPs you post from are not important, does it really matter to have unique domains instead of .wordpress.com and .blogspot.com, etc.?

Thanks

    Hi,

I think your example with Web 2.0 properties is rather Linkwheel and it's not the same as Private Blog network where you own the domains and no one else can delete your content.

Public blog sites are not considered a private blog network, but they can work effectively as a substitute for a private network. If you use public blogs you don't have to worry about separate IPs, class C IPs, or VPNs.

Depending on how you use them, it could be considered a private blog network. For instance, if you use them to post articles that all link to one site, or use it for indexing purposes for backlinks to one site, it could be seen that way. Also, if you interlink them, it is more like a private blog network. If you are just posting articles that are on the same topic but nothing links to the same site or other sites in the network, it's not really a private blog network in the sense that many people think about it.

private blog networks are a little more extensive than that. Usually there is ownership involved - and a lot of tricky ways to delete the "footprint"

What you are talking about is a Web 2.0 blog network which are great also. The problem with that kind of network though is in order for it to be effective you are going to have to build the link juice power of it up, which takes time and effort. Since you don't own these blogs they can get shut down at any time and ruin everything you built. If done right web 2.0 networks can be awesome but i'd suggest using it more as a 2nd tier network or going more bang for your buck with 1000's of sites rather then just a few.
