If you don't even know where to start will offpage backlinking (which is perfectly fine), why not hire someone to handle to offpage SEO for you?

That would allow you to focus on your website and conversion rates rather than getting bogged down in the confusing and precise learning curve that is SEO.

Either option involves a learning curve. If you hire someone to do some work for you you need to learn how to manage and are siphoned through to find a high quality service or worker.

Yes I definitely agree with that. It is always better to actually know the ins and outs of SEO before hiring somebody, that way you know that what they are doing is correct and will actually help your rankings.

However the learning curve in SEO is sometimes too great for someone who just wants to earn moneyh in IM.

I would say that's probably a bad idea. SEO is a minefield in terms of choosing a supplier, it's always wise to become an informed buyer before trusting anyone with your backlink profile, especially in this day and age and even more so considering the events of last year.

I would say get familiarised with basic, scalable link building mechanisms; try creating good quality content on external websites as a starting point and to gain a feel for how rankings are impacted based on the amount of work you put in.

Then, check a few EConsultancy guides, get some more practical experience, read tons of threads, get some more practical experience, then consider outsourcing, but only to save time, rather than due to a lack of understanding of the industry (which in this industry, is a REALLY bad thing, you have to know what you're buying).

I always find it interesting when people call others friends before even meeting or introducing themselves, but to address the more specific question here. What you mainly want to focus on his delivering high-quality content related to your site untrustworthy and high-ranking sites.

We have had great results with document sharing sites they seem to be producing high-quality rankings so far for all of the niches that we are involved with.

      Hey Clint,
How do you get backlinks from document sharing sites?
Is it also possible to upload your product reviews to these sites?

To be honest, it's probably not a good idea to outsource backlinking if you don't know what should be done. You could end up getting ripped off because you don't know what the worker should be doing.

Outsourcing isn't as easy as people seem to think - yeah it's easy for things like articles but service providing at this level is a little harder.

Now, if you don't have the money to invest then you'll have to learn the hard way - read, research and perhaps try and find some tools to help you. It will take time but if you can't invest financially then you'll have to invest your time It's one or the other with this business!

    Hope that helps

There is not a set pattern of backlinking for every site when it comes to SEO.

Giving advice in this area without understanding your goals, keywords, site, niche etc. would be wrong.

You need to come up with a strategy and that will depend entirely on the competition you are facing, the kind of market you are targeting and too many other variables to give you solid advice without first understanding more about what you are doing

A good place to start is with web 2.0 properties with links directly to your site, and then building backlinks to your web 2.0s like a pyramid. And in addition you can make social bookmarking submissions, tweet about your site, make a facebook fan page, and more.

The fastest way to get a powerful backlink for free, and one that is dofollow, is to write an article that's related to your niche and submit it to EzineArticles or GoArticles.

Your article should be between 350 and 400 words in length, and contain one, maybe two backlinks in the article body, and one backlink within the signature box. Make sure that the anchor text of the backlinks are keywords that are related to the keywords on your site. This will help give your site more authority.

    I hope that helps.

You should start with social bookmarks. This will give you a good social intent which is a must-have in todays SEO. Also you should consider using private blog networks. Private blog networks are one of the most powerful source of SEO. But be careful with these, many of the networks are deindexed! Google has started to hate them. Especialy networks using spun content!

Forum and Article marketing are great for a start and also for a long-time period. If you want a great amount of visitors in a short period of time, you can use Social websites (like twitter, digg, stumbleupon, etc!)

This is a real good question, especially for a newbie. Unfortunately, most of the answers on this thread are not really that helpful, to be honest. There's a lot of generalization and glossing over, because everyone's mileage varies. I believe there is a formula, a step by step method for doing anything. I just don't know for sure when it comes to traffic generation, because it will depend on the niche, so I cannot guarantee anything. For me, I decoded the advice from these two locations:

"the backlinking strategy that works" - by Pat Flynn
"the 40 day challenge" - a Warrior thread by Joseph Archibald

Please Google them, as I don't think I can provide hyperlinks on the forum yet.

I know there's more stuff everywhere on the internet, but I just digested those two, created a crib sheet of tasks from their method, and I stick to it like glue. I don't argue with other ideas, but I also do not listen to them. For this I zone in, and use tunnel vision to my advantage.

After ranking 10-25 pages (note I said pages, not sites) to page 1 of Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask, you will know what works and what doesn't. You will then be able to create your own action list and move forward to success.

    Hope this helps.

I crawl a lot of websites to get information to use for SEO. Only about one tenth of a percent of websites have links pages and do link exchange anymore. Link exchange used to be huge and everyone was doing it.

Most professional SEO firms do a lot of article writing and publish them to article sites, which isn't terrible, and gives you a good bit of control over off page content.

I usually use a multiple domain strategy and create "supporting sites" for my main website. I also build directory sites because they are easy and in a lot of markets they get ranked well fast. I link to my main site from my supporting sites.

I also keep a list of sites that have links pages and still do link exchange. I have about 30,000 of them.

Google's webmaster tips talks about getting links. In a nutshell Google thinks you shouldn't do anything to help your site rank better. They say you shouldn't do too much link exchange, and that in text links that are natural are best. Blog posts and forum posts, and article submissions are all easy ways to get in text links on sites you don't own. It's a lot of work, but it pays off well if you get lots of quality, relevant, links to your site

Off-page SEO involves optimizing a website to build reputation in front of the search engines. This includes acquiring links from different high authority websites including web 2.0 property (mix of do-follow and no-follow), article directories, social bookmarking, press release, document sharing, blog posts, etc. You can also participate on social media sites to make your unique content viral; affiliate programs including PPC on search engines like Google - if the advertisement is properly optimized, you can get good quality of traffic. Link building would require you to invest time and effort if you want to achieve good results.

Do comments on website with the same topic than you and link to an article that is related to the topic of the commented post. this will give an immediate stable source of traffic. Even if comments are often nofollow, this is a very good source of traffic.

    Do the same with forums.

    Meanwhile,

take your time to get backlinks by sending emails to websites that could be your partners. Find their contact email in the whois directory. This will provide you stable backlinks.
