Hi,

I have just started doing some SEO for my dad's new website and was wondering if you guys had any advice?

My experience is with more established sites that are usually listed on at least page 3 of Google for most keywords. Do you have any suggestions on what should be done to start ranking the website as its still extremely new?

Thanks!

Depends on the kind of site it is. A linkwheel can be helpful if you know how to set one up. Just create a bunch of Web 2.0s linking to each other and all pointing to your site. Just leave the wheel open or else you can get in trouble.
If you don't know how to set up a wheel or dont want to, there's a fiverr gig by volarex that sets one up for you. It is worth writing quality articles on you Web 2.0s though, because they can often rank and generate traffic to your site.

    1. RSS feed submission (use some free tool google it)
    2. Video Marketing (obviously on youtube )
    3. Article Marketing (use amr or other article submitter tool)
    4. Social Bookmarking (use bmd)

BTW!! seo takes time and attention.

Bookmark the site in good pr sites.

Advertise your website in relevant sites.

According to me first you should start on page activities for your site and after completion of that you should start off page activities like directory submission, social bookmarking, creating profiles, blog commenting and posting etc

  • Hi Chris,

Since you've already chosen a target niche, exact match keywords and a domain name, study if you can still implement the following even when retaining your target niche while your site's still new and have yet to be given a lot of work on:

Study exact match keyword competitiveness. Target low competition exact match keywords that still have good local and global search volume as well as mid-range CPC rates. For instance, targeting a relevant, low competition exact match keyword with 50 to 100 local monthly searches and 200 to 300 global monthly searches as well as $0.01 CPC means you can target fifty of these relevant, low competition exact match keywords and have a combined local monthly search volume worth 2500 to 5000 local monthly search volume and 10000 to 15000 global monthly searches. Then:

See if you can find a set of well-aged expired closeout domains with exact match domain names that have good local and global monthly search volume as well as mid-range CPC rates. Analyze the backlink profiles of each of the expired closeout domains you selected. Choose those with active backlinks anchored by varying yet relevant exact match keywords in a diverse group of contextually relevant, high authority sites. Choose one with a high Google PR domain homepage and verify if the Google Pr is valid via rankchecker.com, since a lot of owners of contextually relevant, high authority sites may be interested in the future to strike link wheel arrangements with you because of your high PR domain homepage. Use this domain for your site...

Develop posts targeting each of those low competition exact match keywords, so that'd be 50 posts, then develop another set of 50 posts targeting a combination of 3 out of those 50 low competition exact match keywords, but this time tackle relevant and important topics and ssub topics yet to be discussed in your previous posts. Then, develop backlinks using these low competition exact match keywords as anchors in contextually relevant, high authority sites. Here are some ways you can get backlinks, aside from article directory submissions, submitting videos and images to video and image repositories, blog commenting, document sharing, forum posting, social bookmarking, RSS feed submissions among others:

Content syndication. Talk to owners of contextually relevant, higha uthority sites with large membership, readership and mailing list subscriber bases. Inform them about your content useful for the relevant needs and problems of their viewers since it offers benefits not found elsewhere, except on your site. Tell them they can syndicate your content on their sites and for their mailing list content, in exchange for onpage text links and banner ads pointing to pages of your site with benefits not found elsewhere nor in your syndicated content. Directory of Ezines is a good resource, among others...

Guest authoring. Talk to owners of contextually relevant, high authority sites and blogs with large readership and mailing list subscriber bases. Tell them you can develop unique content helpful for their readers, in exchange for onpage text links and banner ads pointing to pages of your site with supplemental content offering benefits not found elsewhere nor in your guest posts. MyBlogGuest.Com is a good resource, among others...

For traffic, here are my suggestions:

Get free Google Adwords PPC credits, free Yahoo! PPC credits and free Facebook PPC credits. Lots of hosting companies offer free $100 or more of free Google Adwords PPC credits and $50 or more of free Yahoo! PPC credits with their $10/mo hosting plans. There are Facebook PPC coupon codes for new Facebook accounts that can give you up to $250 of free Facebook PPC credits...

Go to Google, enter your target exact match keywords, take note of the top ranking page results under contextually relevant sites with large membership, readership and mailing list subscriber bases. Negotiate PPC/PPV/PPM and solo email advertising arrangements with them, or try to exchange unique content for onpage backlinks and banner ads on those top ranking pages and in their mailing list content...

I also recommend this for traffic generation as well as backlink profile development for your new site:

Develop a product that can help your target audience satisfy their relevant immediate needs and solve their related urgent problems that they can't satisfy nor solve on their own. Integrate your mailing list subscription process into the sales page on your site for this product, so buyers can opt-in as your mailing list subscribers. Post this product as an affiliate product in various affiliate networks, with your affiliate links pointing to presell content pages. Give a 90% or more commissions per sale, so you can entice more people to become your affiliates. They will promote this product for you as well as drive more traffic, build more backlinks to your presell content pages and populate your mailing list subscriber base with buyer traffic for you. Use the methods above to promote this product and your affiliate signup page in those affiliate networks...

SEO is not that complicated if your not looking for shortcuts. If you do, than you need to do it smart.

Just build links. Contextual are better. The more unique the better. Build second tier with onlywire or something. It will take a lot of time if it's competitive. If you want to achieve it faster, hire someone to do that.

I would do it the other way around, first implement the on-page factors, set up the no-follow and do-follow attributes, get some related content on it and then do off-page..
