.com vs .info

Do .com works better than .info. I've noticed that .com domain are normally not available for a good keyword? Do .info work similarly in terms of SEO?

    Any domains are good

    .COM OR .info.

    But Usually people prefer .com sites.

    Because any one like to type .com with any keyword they got.

    So you may loose some people after becoming popular with that website.

    If some one else using .com and same business like you.

    But seo point of view any domain is fine.

    • .info works. I have several .info domains and they do get ranked even to the first page. I have found it takes longer with .info than .com

      If you ever want to sell the domain or have other reasons to make the domain appear legit to a broad base of people, go with the .com.

      .info domains are cheap the first year but after that... about the same as other domains to renew...

      I don't worry, before I buy a domain, I know it will be worth the $10 or so.

  • This is always heavily debated. .info domains seems to be OK for me, but these are generally pretty low competition niche's. I'd prefer the .com, but I don't mind grabbing a .info if needed.
  • .com is definitely better, in terms of consumer trust. You can rank .info's but it's not as easy as a .com.

      I have no idea where you people get your "info" from, but
      it sure isn't from a reliable SEO source.

      Any US-based TLD is perfectly acceptable. This is, after
      all, 2012. People are used to dot whatevers popping up
      all over the place. Has nothing to do with trust, seo,
      or ten bucks. It's about common sense and real world
      thinking.

  • .com give the feeling of a commercial and authentic site. While .info look more like a personal website. But both work okay, if you put in the hard work. Personally, I would pick .com over .info
  • I think it depends on what niche you are targeting. If it's just free content consumer trust isn't as much of an issue as if you were trying to sell something. I think I could probably count the number of NON-spammy .info sites I have visited on one hand... I'm sure they exist it's just they are greatly outnumbered by spammy .infos
  • No mention of .net? I'd take a .net over a .info if the .com was not available.
  • In seo point of view any non-count TLD extension (like .com, .net, .org, .info etc) are OK. And it doesn't matter which domain name extension you're using, all you have to do is optimize your website to the search engines in a recommended ways (by using any white hat seo techniques). I would recommend you to go through with the Google webmaster quality guidelines before getting started with the seo process for your website. And make sure that your website comply with the guidelines/rules set by Google.

    So, no matter which domain name is. Everything is depends on quality, relevancy, originality and the niche you choose.

  • In terms of ranking in Google, there is no difference.

    People are more accustomed to .com and tend to view them as more credible websites in my opinion.
  • I prefer .com domains to .info ones but there is not any right reason for not ranking .info domains. There are many .info domains that are ranking in top results too but most webmasters prefer .com ones.
  • Is your website going to be a business site or are you going to use it for information? I think your site will work better for you if it is a business site and you use a .com
