Not really terrible. I see lots of fiverr gigs offering this type of service for just $5 yearly. At this moment I am using a service purchased from fiverr almost 3 months ago. Its simply superb. But the only problem is I cant access fiverr from my location for unknown reason and my current hosting service provider is not replying to my email! as this is urgent for me I have started the thread.

$5 a year? Maybe you should browse the WSO section and read the offers from those "couple dollars a year" web hosts that ran WSO's. What quality of service do you expect for that price?

Why not pay $5 per month and you will get your fast loading times, unlimited email accounts, and 99% uptime.

Maybe not as cheap as you're going for, but I think IX Web Hosting is about as cheap as they come.

If you want to buy a hosting for $5 yearly which is very rare and i have not seen yet, you can use free hosting services which is free totally. I myself don't suggest cheap and low quality services at all for any kind of usage.

In terms of hosting, never go with cheap hosting or with those hosting service providers that are not reliable. These company can change their rule anytime to take money from your pocket and if you don't give money then you have to transfer your site to other hosting and transfer process is not easy, it can disturb your SEO too.

And these hosting service provider would not let you transfer easily, lots of trouble I have faced already.

It is better to use reputed company like HostGator, otherwise use blogging platform blogger, wordpress etc.

Don't use cheap web host. The downtime and slow server will cost you money. No host can offer you hosting for that cheap unless they oversell their server.

StableHost used to be good. But turned terrible a few months ago for me and remained terrible (website pages loading in 10+seconds) for a few months and i decided to move on.

But this is not recommended. Good web hosting is the backbone of any website and online business. Don't start your online marketing career with a broken back.
