Stealing backlinks from top ranking sites?

Is stealing backlinks from my competitors a great way to outrank them?

Along with analyzing their site and their on-page and off-page SEO and modelling exactly what they are doing, do you think this will get me anywhere near the same top rankings?

Obviously those top ranking sites must be doing something right!!

I do realize some of them have been around for a while, are authority sites with lots of content on them and have high pagerank... But I'm mostly aiming at niche sites that are build around a keyword (sniper sites)

Those should be fairly easy to outrank, right?

    Yes this strategy will work. but do not copy and paste the same title, tags or description. do some change in them :p i did this on my 2 sites on medium competition keywords and i am on first page 4/5p.

    Yes!

    It really works and normally I used to do like this for all my client sites.

    In MS Excel just make a note of all those sites and what your competitor did(Guest post, directory submission etc).

    Analyze and do it in a better way along with your daily activities. For sure you will get some good output.
