Revamping an old HTML site

I have a site that was built on HTML - not too large. i was thinking of taking it down - using the domain to build a WP site and re-using the old articles as posts and pages. Reason - it is a kinda ugly and "chunky". Any disadvantage to this in the eyes of the big G?
I think it may be better for adsense if it is re-done.

yes, rebuilt it as you have said that it is not good looking. Just build nice one and you should take care of keywords.
