no1 on page 1 Google ---- Now page 8!!!

My keyword sensitive website was at number 1 in Google, for the last few weeks - pretty much from when I created it, until last night.
I have checked it this evening, and it was way back on page 8! Is there a reason for this? Will it bounce back up again?

Thanks in advance...

COuld be the google dance? Did you conduct any black hat techniques to get yourself into the rankings intially? I ask only because they typically have short term results in the search engines.

A large number of links at one time can do this to a new site. Also, if you have been blog networks as your primary link source, the majority of your links may have been deindexed or devalued. Just keep on building links consistently and your site will return. if your content is original and your onpage seo is good then it most certainly has something to do with your backlinking.

Ok, well build more links. The search engine may not consider your site an authority on the subject if you don't receive in "votes" ie backlinks to your pages.

To me it looks like you just need to start building links...

Can't expect to stay at the top while not link building

Add new content and some high quality links. You should be fine within a week or two. Keep us updated. Also be on the look-out for negative SEO.

I think you should not give more attention to these as this happen due to Google Dance and you start your work and it will be sort out soon.

PM me your website link and i will take a look. We advise on when google has penalized or what your issue more than likely is.

Very unlikely this is a Google dance if you went from number 1 to page 8.

Sand boxing would be more likely than a google dance issue. How old is the domain?

Pr does help, but I wouldn't agree its the most important factor. We hold countless number one positions with PRs less than competitors.

Totally disagree.. i never think about PR but definitely think about Domain PR not Page PR... One of my keyword page PR is 1 and my competitors page is 3+ but still hero is no1

I just see one of my other keyword is slipped from page 2 to 8.. I have to careful now with my backlinks practice of that keyword.

New site, got a push to the top, didn't stick accordingly to Google standards. See, Google does this to many new sites (don't know exact % and to be honest don't care). Googledoes this to test them, to see the "public reaction" to these new sites. Then, if they don't follow G's standards, they are kicked back to kazillion pages. That's the hard truth. It's a complicated mix of numerous aspects BUT one of them is definitely "public reaction" to that website.

    Then you mentioned this:

    Nothing in Webmaster Tools.
Well, you just gave G a heads-up of all your site. Everything. And that usually is a bad thing, especially with new sites with short authority online. Thats why new sites shouldn't use analytics/webmasters tools. That way they have more time to "breath" and to create good "public reaction".

It's a damn hard mix and I ain't sharing it here, but I get amazed with so many ignorant users pushing their agendas and giving bad advice in here. Thats why I decided to drop this bit of info - take it or leave it, I honestly don't care. From past experience I know many of you will read this and buy more backlinks or another stupid system... it's just how it goes.

This SEO sub-forum is nothing more then a remix of used information. Arrggghh. It hurt my eyes.

      Hi Fernando,

The site was never submitted into Webmaster tools in fairness.

The domain is keyword driven. Is about 6 weeks old. Even when I had no content on the site, it still made the first page. Then all of a sudden it falls from 1st place down to page 8.

I'm hoping it's this 'Google dance' that everyone mentions!

Must be a newish site. Remember the 1st 3 months you will be bouncing all over the place.

You ment to say you hope it is just a Google Dance, otherwise you got a lot of work on your hands.

    You need backlinks.

edit: Its only 6 weeks old you have to give it a chance...

Has it fallen for all keyword phrases or just one that you are tracking? Are your varying the anchor text in your backlinks? Chances are its just dancing, feed it some stead links with varying anchor text regularly.

If this domain is just a few months old, this is the norm.

Happened to one of my site recently too. I logged inside Google webmaster tools and it says "No links to the site". However, it was showing hundreds of links before. Is your webmaster tools saying the same in "links to your site"?

    Google usually like this.
First, your website is on NO1 page 1, later, when it discover something new and unique, your website is fall away from page 1.
it's quite hard to get it back on page 1 and No.1.
