Social Media Networking Idea

At the moment Google is transitioning into putting increasing weight on various forms of social media as ranking signals for its search engine algorithm. This means that traditional backlinking methods are going to become less important over time - although they are still very important currently.

In light of these developments I am thinking of setting up a social media network with a group of people who would promote each others websites and blogs through their Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and other social media accounts.

What I have in mind is that members of the group will click each others' Like, Tweet, and +1 buttons through a sort of barter system that I have devised. Unlike linking to each others' site through traditional methods, this is not traceable by Google (unless Google Analytics and Plus accounts are linked) and therefore cannot be penalised (as long as it is not done too quickly).

The result of this is the members of the group will have a lot of likes, tweets, +1s etc from a number of different accounts, which should give their Google search engine rankings a big boost.

I have heard of at least one quite costly product that does something like this automatically - you install some software on your computer and all the likes and tweets from your accounts are generated for you - but you lose control over what you like and tweet (unlike my method). They claim to be very successful in getting their members onto page one of Google extremely quickly - for competitive keywords.

My idea is to do this on a much smaller scale, but it should still be effective for small niche sites.

I would like some feedback about this idea and if anyone is interested exploring it with me, you can contact me at: gj_taylor (at) hotmail
