I know some of you warriors use Link Authority not ALN. I know they are still doing their thing, but are they still safe to use or would it be smarter to go with purchasing my own domains purely for my own use and keeping them private? Suggestions..

If you've got the money and the know-how, private network is the superior option.

The smartest move right now would be to avoid any blog network. Google is on fire tracking down these networks and a single tiny footprint would be enough to send them to sandbox along with you if you choose to use the service.

Ok to get a handful of links just don't go getting hundreds from 1 site. They also have ability to remove links if you are ever in the need to remove links like when you get webmaster notices.

It's still going strong for the most part. Personally, I'm not sure big G would go after that network since their submission standards are higher than about 80% of the rest of the internet. That said no one, including myself, is going to call any network safe right now.

If you can manage to write so many perfect and completely unique articles that you actually need somewhere other than your own site to post them, then maybe. Honestly though, I think most people are better off just posting those articles to their own blog.

Blog networks are only as good as the police/owners that run them. Must publish spun nonsense and deserve to be de-indexed. Both blog and article networks are fine if you are using quality networks. The more undergorund and private a network, the better.

Using that logic they had no reason to go after BMR either since all their content was unique.

They will go after any blog network regardless of how good the content is. If they see your blog network helped a guy rank for "auto insurance" like in this case they will destroy whatever helped him get that ranking.

Guys like that use every network under the sun and they buy a ton of content so there is no way they don't lead Google back to your blog network. Eventually it will happen.

Also the fact that every blog network uses 99% Wordpress blogs makes it much easier for them. I don't understand why they can't use other CMS scripts like article directory, elgg sites and other blog platforms besides Wordpress.

Using only Wordpress is a dead give away.

I brought that point up on his thread, he (the owner) is completely under the delusion that you are talking about.

They are being extremely strict on the content and their users for practically no reason, Google still poses a threat to them.

Wordpress is so huge that I wouldn't call it a dead give away.

Anyway, I'm not calling any network "safe." Putting up a simple website and building no back links at all to it is a risk. Big G might deindex any one at any time for any reason. "Nothing personal, just doing my job" is the age old excuse used by murderers, insurance investigators, and now google since the dawn of business. As soon as you step on the field you risk failure. Anything you do adds to your risk, and none of us can say whether this one thing is adding a little or a lot of risk.

        This.

As long as the network remains open, some people will abuse it (and be on every single network out there, giving Google a nice fat footprint to follow).

The only way around it is for network owners to vet who they allow to use their net, and to apply restrictions as to posting. But most won't 'cause they are too greedy.

Therefore the only safe thing to do is own your own network (which is expensive) or try other methods of backlinking which the spammers won't go near.

I am not sure how safe LA is. However I have used some contextual link building services from reputable SEO companies and at the end the blogs they use to place some anchor text links look very much like the blogs used by LA. Just a blog full with tons of different content. Why would Google deindex LA and not deindex the blogs used by a Topseo company I was using? They looked basically the same to me. The only difference was that the topseo company cost me 10 times the price of LA

Definitely. Learn from a trusted source how to build a truly private network, and you're good to go.

No blog network is safe. Fact.

Even private ones carry a risk, albeit much smaller.

Personally, i use LOADS of networks. SImply because they provide a good reward for me, i accept using them is a risk and losing my sites is a risk. I just scale as fast as possible and hope for the best.

I also diversify and make sites that are not reliant on Google traffic or from blog network links.

This is just smart business. If your whole strategy right now relies on blog networks you are setting yourself up to fail.

That being said, if you can make money with them, just churn and burn baby. That's what im doing

Sorry to revive an old thread guys, but I am about to start using LA again, or at least I was until their support didn't reply to my two tickets yet, over a week ago. Not impressed.
However, I did like LA and used it to help (with other methods) rank a site which earned me a reasonable bit of cash a couple of years ago. I am basically getting back into SEO after a year or so completely out of it. Scary huh!

I would love to know how to set up a PBN, so if you any of you know of any good guides, or maybe even a service offering which does it as a service, that would be great.

I may try LinkAuthority again, their snootiness (snobs) peed me off a fair bit, but the links did seem to do some good. Oh i should add, I got penalised by Google and the site died. hahahaha, but I don't think it was the LA links, but it could well have been. Who knows what the Google asses are thinking?

With a big public network like that, it is only a matter of time until the sites get deindexed by Google, and usually the sites being linked to are penalized.

Far better to build your own private network, and you won't have to worry about that stuff.

Thanks, although that doesn't help me build a PBN

"it is only a matter of time until the sites get deindexed by Google" - true perhaps, I say perhaps because my friend said this to me a few years ago when I started using it, and I made a decent bit of money from using it.

It would take some fairly clandestine operations by Google employees to find all the blogs in their network.

Actually, it is extremely easy to unravel a network like that. I could do it in a day. Google can do it much faster because they have better resources.

All you have to do is join. Grab one blog that your link shows up on, and then grab every site being linked to from that blog. Check the sites linking to them. Rinse and repeat.

I've unraveled networks of over 2,0000 sites in a few hours that way.

It can get taken down or de-indexed however it's been running fine for over 5 years now even through the whole G de-indexing loads of the private blog networks, only 5% of LA was de-indexed and they have 100's of sites added daily

However it's a risk you ave to take when using these type of networks, cheaper in short term but long term is better to start building your own network..
