i am deciding if i want to make a review website on a certain product and i was wondering if it is worth making? According to google keyword tool these are the stats for my keyword:

18,100 local exact searches
low competition
$0.63 cpc

What really caught my eye was that there was nine sites that had a PR:0 on the first page.

  • According to the statistics you mentioned, i think it is worth if you think you can make a website and optimize it to outrank other existence sites. If optimizing it will not take a long time for you, i think it worths to be tried.

    • i typed this keyword into serpIQ and there are only 3 sites with any URL backlinks at all and the one site with the most only has 97. Also the on page seo was below 50% on all sites.
Im thinking this could be an easy keyword to rank for.
  • If your data is correct, go for it. Seems like a pretty good keyword / phrase?

    • its a phrase of 3 words.
Do review sites usually last very long? it seems like once the next version comes out or the next big thing then my traffic would die

  • In my opinion, no it's not. However, its up to you to make a value judgement. I prefer building up sites into larger authority-type sites. I feel like small single-product based sites are a waste of time.

    • it is exact but i am not looking to put adsense on there for my main income so im not concerned about the cpc.
  • Why don't you first run an adwords campaign for that keyword and check if you can generate decent revenue? If yes, make 3-4 sites and get all of them on page 1.

    • Don't do this unless you are experienced with AdWords.
  • Low competition in Google K/W tool is very much misunderstood.

it shows how much advertisers fighting to get there ads displayed.

So if the competition is low may be there are very few advertisers are trying to sell there products via ads so not much buyer intent.

Even adsense wont pay good for such sites because you will rarely get any relevant ads and most of times you will get very low CPC ads. If you think its buyer k/w you can go for it.

    • i used serpIQ to look at the seo competition. both on and off page
  • Just 2 reviews sites make over $80k/year for me, but they are risky, because this will not last forever, so I am moving slowly towards huge authority sites with lots of reviews and content.

    • The website in your Sig gives off a malware warning in Chrome. You might want to check that out.

  • What I have done in past few years is built several review websites on general niches instead of single product and slowly turn them into authority website. If you just do one product review it can be risky because if a product demand goes down so does your traffic and earning. Best way to do is use evergreen keywords and add the word 'reviews' at the end for long term traffic.
