Add informative, unique and keyword reach contents and try to get as many backlinks as many you can from high PR sites.

Quality Content which is proof read and relevant to the very core of your website is the first prerequisite.

Amongst other things, look at getting contextual backlinks from reliable sites. These will add to the value of your site as well as its PR in the long run. Basically, building authority in the mind of Google is what you should be attempting to do

Despite the other responses in this thread, the quality of your content does not affect your pagerank. You could have no content at all and still have pagerank. It is 100% about backlinks.

Links from other sites with higher PR helps a lot.

Why would you want higher PR though? It's often an inaccurate measurement of how good a site is.

Pagerank can be improved only by getting backlinks from high pagerank dofollow websites and pages. Its the only way and content or other parameters don't effect PR at all.

Quality back links and unique content are the most important factors in search engine optimization. Page rank is depending on your site incoming links and content. If your site have more quality back links, it will get good page rank automatically.

Simple get backlinks. And I am not talking 1000's of crap ones. Get back links from PR2 and above sites. I tooka new site to a PR5 in around 6 months. Here is how it works.....

SITE X is a PR5 - you get a dofollow (this is the most important part) link on a PR4 interior page

Make sure the OBL are less than 40

The amount of PR you get is dependent upon the PR of the page and the number of outbound links.

Build lots and lots of these and your PR will increase in no time.

P.S. This will take some time. Even tough your PR will be increasing you will not know it until G updates PR and then you will see where you stand.

Pretty basic really. And I do not believe content matters except you will have a hard time getting back links without it.

Backlinks + age of site + age of links + 100 other secret factors = PR

Here is your problem though: your actual PR might well be 1 or 2 by now, but Google's public page rank database only gets updated once every few months. They do that to make it practically impossible to see the effect that any particular change has on your PR. The Alexa rank is updated often so you can use that to gauge what your PR probably is.

Google doesn't want you to track your PR on a day by day basis, or even a month by month basis. The best thing to do is to just give in, not track it, move on.

Get backlinks to high PR websites. Also you must wait for Google to perform update if your looking to see rise in Toolbar. However keep in mind that PR is an ever changing figure. Even though your website says PR0 it may be a PR2. You just don't know it yet.

Posting unique and frequent content is a good start, the second thing you should do is to start building links to your site. Try to only build natural links, because Google will not give you any pagerank otherwise.
Below are some ways to build god links:

    1) Comments
    2)Post on Forums
    3) Guest Posting
    4) Social media ( Facebook, Twitter)
    5) Video Marketing
    6) Press Releases

Google is updating the PR 2-3 times a year, you will need to wait until you get your first PR for a couple of months.

PageRank is not something that can change that easy. It needs time, I would say at least 3 months.

There are two main things to work on to increase your PR:
    1. Content: You need to post frequently high quality unique content

    2. Backlinks: It's important to have backlinks from high quality relevant websites

It usually takes time. Continue all your SEO and Quality Content efforts and eventually Google will HAVE TO Rank your website

And remember it is just one measure of your ranking. If you are getting consistent traffic do not worry too much about the PageRank, but rather work on improving the million other aspects of your website.

Backlinks. That's it. Other people will claim that "content," "traffic," etc, have a role in PR. They don't. It's all about the backlinks.

Fortunately, though, most of the time you can outrank pages with higher PR if your on-page optimization is better than theirs. So PR is not the be-all-end-all.

      • Create unique content that people are likely to share. Write engaging articles related to your business and submit them to article directories. Contact other webmasters and write guest posts for their sites. Focus on link building. Promote your content on social media sites and interact with other users who might be interested in what you have to offer.

For off page optimization of your site always bear in mind these things:
        • give the search engines what they need, and
        • give the visitors of your website the information that they need.

I apologize if I wasn't able to give you enough details. But based on what I did with my sites, do some web directories submission. Submit blogs to high page rank and popular directories (yahoo, dmoz, technorati) to allow your blog to get quality traffic and back links. You can also join 4 forums related to your niche and get active in it. I also add up articles submissions of 2-3 quality articles. You can also submit your site to free web directories. I do these every five days, until my site has been listed with 1-5 SERP rank.

Let me know if I can help you Warrior to Warrior.

            Good luck

-Good Interlinking of your website pages
-Link out to authority websites in your niche (not direct competitors though!); nofollow them
-Use multi-tier link building with top-quality links in tier 1 (direct linking)
-Try to get some quality back-links from authority "on-topic" resources (via informative blog commenting, e.g.)
-Avoid low-quality link blasts especially for tier1
    -Use drip feed
-Build link continuously and consistently adding some randomness
-Using a HUGE variety of anchor texts centered around your main keywords; use domain URL and generic terms (click here, check out, visit this site etc)
-High IP Diversity- for your back-links (best - C-class level or higher)
