i have a new site which i created yesterday, with 9 posts already all indexed by google. if i keep on expanding it ( 1 post per day), could i gradually gain more visitors without me doing anything else? (like posting in forums with sig links, guest blogging etc)

    • You don't provide a lot of information so it is hard to give a useful answer.

Yes of course you can have a successful website without doing any SEO. Will doing some SEO help though? Yep, sure will.

  • You did not provide any details about your site.

If you are already getting clicks and visitors, then keep doing what you are doing.
  • You should make some quality backlinks for your website from good sites too to get more visitor. Only posting content to your website is not enough and you need to do some seo works too.
  • It's possible? Yes! Is it likely? No

The only way this would happen is if during your articles you somehow stumbled upon long tail keyword with virtually no competition.

    You'll probably need some backlinks
  • If you are not doing any SEO, but you have fresh unique content, your site's traffic will increase but it will need much more time than if you were doing something to promote it.
  • thanks for all the replies, my site is country-reviews.com, just created without much content. i bought a backlink pyramid from fiverr.com/dino_stark/build-eminent-backlink-pyramid-with-5000-high-pr-profiles yesterday, and also submitted the site onto some directories and wrote a lengthy guest blogpost on another blog with high pageviews.
  • Yes, you can get some traffics but nothing sustaining.

You can also help a bit by posting on your blog with really low competitive keywords as title and mentioned in the body and keyword tag.

    • so how do i get sustaining traffic? I just want to earn enough a month to pay for the hosting (a tenner).

  • You will see good gain in traffic but for this, you will need to work on promoting your blog. You can share your blog posts on social networking sites facebook and twitter. You can also do the same thing with linkedin but make sure that you don't break the rules. If the members in your network feels that you are participating for just promotion purpose, you will be ignored so keep it natural.

    • i understand the importance of SMO but i do not have any followers in my social network (twitter n facebook). How do I remedy that?
  • Dude...Never even build a site for the purpose of earning money, if you don't want to spend the time or money (i.e. outsourcing) to market it and drive traffic. At best you will be leaving money on the table. The more likely scenario is you'll be wasting your time.

If you don't won't to build links then try using one the the blog 2.0 blog properties that pass through their link juice to you - a la "Pot Pie Girl" . Problem is you content flexibility is limited when using these blogs. They'll only let you configure your content the way they want you to configure it.
