Long Tail Results - Lots of Youtube Vids question

I've been doing a lot of searching for really long tail phrases - a lot of them questions like "how to start your own bar" etc.

Anyway, I've noticed lots and lots of youtube videos, especially because they are how-to types of videos. I noticed one phrase had nothing but youtube videos on the first page.

I am assuming youtube videos are easy to rank against? I haven't really heard or seen anyone mention how difficult they are to beat but it seems like it wouldn't be too big a problem.

A lot of these seem like some easy phrases to rank for but are searchers going to be more likely to click through to the videos instead of the link to my website? Just from personal experience I tend to click youtube videos myself because you tend to know what you are getting.

So I guess my question is. How hard are youtube videos to beat and if I do beat them, yet they are still on the same page as my site, am I still going to get a reasonable amount of traffic.

They're hard enough to beat, especially with text content. YouTube has a lot of authority and people love watching videos.

Yeah I'm noticing this too. The solution is to simply create your own videos and beat them. Make a video and outrank the existing ones. Most of these aren't purposely optimized. So beating them is usually pretty easy. Plus, this gives you TWO spots on page 1. Not just one. A video that links to your site and your site itself.

I agree with JS. Beating a YT vid with a YT vid of your own is definitely the way to go. I've seen some statistics say that people are more likely to click on videos in the SERPs than actual sites.

You even acknowledged this fact yourself.

My suggestion would be to try and rank your site as high as you can and also get working on a YT channel/video(s). You can outsource video production at Fiverr.com...some really good gigs are over there for this!

There are also YT video promo gigs at Fiverr.com...

Having more than 1 spot on Page 1 of any SERP is better than having only your website there!

      Good Luck!

True. When I see videos, articles, hubs, lenses, etc, it's usually an indication that the competition is fairly week. This isn't ALWAYS the case, though.

Oh of course proper research still needs to be done, doesn't mean I don't get excited with that type of competition

Tyler here is a way you can beat them if you don't want to create new video's.

Simply embed that video on your website and write a post about the topic. By doing this your curating the video and becoming an "authority" on the topic versus trying to start from the beginning with a brand new video.

    Regards,
