Backlink Strategy for Long-tail keywords

Hi all,

One of my sites is purely based on long tail keywords. I had quite a bit of success last year by using sources like ALN and other high PR blog posts (similar to BMR). But as we all know, these networks have been de-indexed quite a bit and i've seen my positions drop. Right now I am seeing many websites in the Top few spots with 0 backlinks, but strong domain authority.

What is the best way to work on these long tail keywords now? I realize I could do many things but for me i'm also trying to keep the budget low for these. Is UAW still effective? Are high PR blog comments still effective?

Thanks!

For long tail in less competitive markets for cheap, try blog comments, forum comments and profiles. When it comes to article and content posts, try higher quality articles on the better article and web 2.0 sites. You can also use directories to target the long tail.
