Backlink diversity means you do both. Your backlink portfolio should contain links from all over. This is why I recommend building larger sites because it can be very difficult to present yourself as an authority in 100 niches. Also very, very time consuming.

We need to define a scale on which we can exam the blog commenting and forum posting. To get the result which is beter then other. Without your scale it is diffiuclt to judge...

As both are very effective in term of getting backlinks. Forums posting links are instant whereas blog commenting links are quickly crawl by search engine as people are interact to each other in quick time.

This was discussed recently in this thread, you might wanna check it out:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...m-posting.html

In short, I consider them to be similar methods, taking into account both SEO and traffic.

Key is to make your posts and comments very valuable and helpful. Every post or comment
should be almost like a short article. Focus on the few forums and blogs that are of greatest
quality and bring you the best results.

Both of them are good if you don't spam
If you want to post on forums, you should post quality threads or replies and if you want to comment on blogs you should post related comments which are not spam to be approved. No one (even a search engine) likes spamming and if you avoid them. both of them can help your ranking on search engines.

Blog commenting for backlinks. Forum posting for targeted traffic. Both can take time and need to be quality over quantity, IMO.

I'd rather manually comment on a smaller number of high quality blogs vs blasting my link everywhere with automated tools. As far as forum posting, I'd rather be an active & helpful member of a handful of high traffic, niche related forums vs creating thousands of profiles.

I have to be upfront about this

Blog comment works much more better than forum post any day, any time.

You can find thousands of do follow blogs, with many high pr pages that you can leave your comment on.

Many of my site ranking high today after the blog de-index were as a result of 60% blog comment links.

Get a tool like scrape box and find high pr blogs to comment on.

The blog home page rank is not what matters but the actual page pr you will be leaving your comment. I usually stick with pr 3 and above and sometimes start from pr 2 when the high pr list is not sufficient for me.

Do not spam comments with scrapebox or otherwise it will be another waste of time like blog networks de-index.

I really like forum posting because you can actually help people solve a problem and interact with your peers. That doesn't really happen on scattered blogs. Of course, if I still had my 1,000 or so mini niche sites, well, that would have been just crazy. That's why I flipped everything on its side and went with the large site model. Every now and then I find a niche that's low comp. and over $25/click, so sometimes I can't help myself to an emd here and there

In my view forum posting is the effective and powerful off-page SEO method because forums has more number of users from the different places and many users are participating in the forum discussion and this will keep forums to stay active 24X7 and google likes the fresh contents all the time. Lots of users is equal to lots of useful content.

But purely for backlinks I'd say blog commenting. (As long as you're commenting on quality blogs.)

I do love the traffic that comes from active forums though.

On the other hand forums work better if you want to get just traffic and it might help you boost your reputation...

So blog commenting is better overall but it takes more time, forum posting gets less time since you have so many options to find threads where you can contribute in the discussion...

Both are good for attracting the traffic to the website. Both are the important aspects of off line SEO in which a person can promote his website. The only fact is that in blog posting if the person finds a good community then the chances of his website promotion increases than that in the forum posting.

      That is incorrect.

A PR N/A backlink buried within thousands of other profiles is far from a high PR link. A lot of people think that domain PR is the same as the PR of the "page" your backlink is on. It's not.

Whenever I get asked this question I remind people that it's called "page"rank for a reason. Not siterank. Or domainrank.

Forum posting is great for building relationships and generating targeted traffic, though.

I've found that commenting on recent posts from active, niche related blogs can bring in some decent traffic. If the blog is active it's somewhat close to the traffic that forum posting can generate. (Not quite as much. But it's also easier.)

The backlinks themselves won't be the greatest since they're coming from fresh posts that have no PR and are most likely NoFollow. But commenting on recent posts is more about traffic than backlinks.

      • Blog commenting and forum posting are some of the best ways to get relevant backlinks to your site. For direct traffic, forum posting works better. On the other hand, blog posts get high page rank easier than forum pages, which will help you with your link building campaign. You can try both methods to see which of them works best for your website.

Both forum posting and blog comment have their own advantages and disadvantages. One common benefit of doing both is backlink. You will get backlink from both. Generally forums have do-follow backlinks but it is not the same case with the blogs.

On the other hand forums require registration before you submit your post but blogs may or may not have the registration process.

It all depends back to where those forums and blogs lie in terms of their PR. If you use both in their own advantageous ways then they can offer the same return. Dependent on your strategy will therefore pull back the positives and benefits. If you spend time looking for blogs with high PR and spend time commenting with great value this will pull back quality returns in a ways of PR, juice, traffic etc etc.

You need to work on either one to reap the benefits - but both can be highly rewarding if you have a straight and worthy strategy.

Blog commenting is the easiest way to get high PR backlinks for your site. Blog pages gets page rank very soon and when you leave a comment on that blog, you are getting a high PR backlink for your site.

Spamming in the forums are not going to work now a days. It is very important to build a relationship with the fellow forum members to get quality traffic to your site.

Blog commenting for backlinks is a weird idea! You will probably be wasting your time . Getting backlinks from good blog is kind of impossible if you are posting for link sake.

Here are few comments which any established blogger wont accept EVER:

"You recognize therefore significantly when it comes to this topic, made me individually consider it from numerous numerous angles. Its like women and men don't seem to be fascinated until it's something to do with Lady gaga! Your own stuffs excellent. All the time take care of it up!"

      Here's a funny one:

"Simply wish to say your article is as amazing. The clarity to your submit is simply nice and i could think you're knowledgeable on this subject. Well together with your permission allow me to grasp your feed to stay up to date with forthcoming post. Thanks one million and please continue the enjoyable work."

These comments doesn't make any sense and waste of time of Bandwidth submitting these comments!

Forums are great source of traffic from signature link but make sure you are not spamming the thread!

I see people often posting content like

"I find it very useful, never crossed my mind"
      "oohhh...that's an awesome answer"

and keeps on building link and therefore kicked out of the forum by the moderator!

What I would suggest is to Genuinely participate in Blogs and forums and stay on the topic & share your knowledge with others!

I wouldn't say it's THAT difficult, if you know what you're doing. (Don't just blindly comment on posts that you come across in Google searches.)

My general rule is to first ensure that the blog is still being actively updated by checking the main page. If there's any posts from the past few weeks or so then I consider it to be active.

Once I've done that I'll leave a quick comment on one of the newer posts. Comments on newer posts tend to get approved more than random comments on aged posts. (At least in my experience.) If my comment is approved in a reasonable amount of time I'll THEN go back and leave another on an aged post, preferably with PR.

Your approval rate should skyrocket at this point since:

        1. You've verified that the blog is actively being updated and moderated.

        2. You've shown that you're a legitimate commenter and not just a spammer looking to drop a link.

Sure, it's a little extra work. But it's still one of the easier ways to get backlinks with PR.

Both of them should have to maintain quality rather than quantity and bring traffic slowly but steadily. But, I prefer forum posting more than blog commenting. Now choice is yours. You can check out some reasons behind this from here -

Assuming that your question is for SEO purposes, I think it depends which is better. You cannot directly tell one can give you good results than the other. Take note that the quality of your backlinks depend on the quality of your posts. So it really depends upon the user itself.

If you are referring to the best place to share thoughts. I think forum posting are more realistic and interactive when it comes to discussing matters and opinions. So if you want to gain more knowledge, I suggest you go for forum posting.

But for those who do not have blogs of their own and for those who do not feel like making their own blogs, then forum posting is the best option. Anyway, both of them are good when you plan to increase traffic to your page. You just need to know the dos and the don'ts when doing the said methods for you to have favorable results.
