Ranking / SEO Spyglass and Links?

Hi all

i recently started using SEO Spyglass to look at various competitor (and my own) sites , to see why they are ranking , at least, due to their links. I am aware spyglass does not pick up all links , but from what i see , is it accurate to say , that actually just a few high PR links will go a long way to ranking a site? Maybe its spyglass , but in medium to low copetition sites that rank high for their KW , they only seem to have a few quality , high (pr3-pr5) do follow links... is this an accurate assessment?

    i have tried most of what is out there but SEO Spyglass seems to be the best one I have used so far. It picks up backlinks that Majestic SEO doesn't see at least on my sites so i like it alot. i use the free version now and it's good enough for me. it gives alot of detail too.

    SEO Spyglass is good but it does not find all of a site's backlinks. Then again, no software does.

    That's a great question!

    Depending on the niche, it might be the case that just a number of do follow high-PR is enough to get high rankings. You never know until you experiment with link building. Try out different strategies (sticking to accepted practices + getting ideas from competition research) to find the best one to see what lets you improve your rankings.

    Marty, what edition of SEO SpyGlass are you using? If it's Free, there's a limit of 1,100 links per project. Those are just random links, not the best ones.

    Professional and Enterprise Editions let you get unlimited number of backlinks - even 100k in some cases.

    Happy with SEO Spy Glass on my end. Ran a report the other day that returned 16,000 links. Just don't try to run an analysis on all 16k to dump out a report
