After the release of Google Panda Update, are the backlinks still valuable for SEO? I will appreciate your interest for providing me some good answers.

Yes they are still valuable and probably will be for some time.

Perhaps the question you should ask is: are unnatural backlinks valuable for SEO? 99% of the links I see being sold on Warrior are completely unnatural!

Of course backlinks are still valuable. It just depends on the types of backlinks you get. Try to be as natural as possible and backlinking will become easier and you will see better results.

Getting 10,000 links from a blog network is not natural and this is why so many people are freaking out after some of the recent panda deindexing. Remember to diversity the types of backlinks you are getting and make sure that you are getting "credible" backlinks with varied anchor text (no more than ~10-20% exact match keyword) and you will see good results assuming that you understand keyword research and did a good job there.

If search engines don't car backlinks, the search ensigns will dead because they can't rank results in a good way and they will lost their users day by day because the results are not trusted. Of course backlinks are still important.

Just a question: has anyone had any problems with just getting a lot of really good backlinks from a small number of sites? Does Google penalize people for this?

Obviously nobody knows how long- but there's no reason to believe that it will ever go away.

Remember the real reason why backlinks help a website rank. They're basically votes to say "hey this website is great for X topic- check it out". X topic is, of course, the anchor text.

How will Google keep up with what sites are popular, and which ones aren't? 3 things-

      1) How many people visit the site

      2) The site's bounce rate (how long people stay on it)

      3) How many other websites are saying "hey, this is cool" via backlinks

The difference is that Google is getting better at identifying the "omg thiz site is awsum becuz its mine and has an emd LOL" vs. "I'm an established website and I gotta tell you- this other site is some QUALITY, powerful stuff."

Diversify your link-building campaign. Create a backlink profile that is like a melting-pot of various links. Don't over do SEO and spam your sites, be patient when taking this route and you will be just fine.

Backlinks worked, and they will keep on working. Though, what Google values best will fluctuate as well.

Of course backlinks are still valuable and the fact the the big "G" went after networks like BMR and ALN and deindexed the blogs in those networks is proof that they work.

A lot of people have lost rankings lately but for most people it's not because of a penalty handed out after an algorithm update but rather because they had too many links coming from a network that had most of the blogs in the network deindexed. Think about it, if half of your links came from BMR and then BMR gets shut down, you're going to lose half of your links. If you lose half of your links your rankings will drop.

Backlinks work, plain and simple. Thats why they are waging war on blog networks. Even blog network links can still be valuable but backlinks as a whole are as valuable as ever. Just don't rely too heavily on one network or one type of link. Mix things up and keep getting links.

You should approach SEO a bit differently. Think about this: who are the experts in your niche? Where do they hang out? What does your ideal customer look like? Where do they hang out? The answers to those questions are the same places you should be posting useful content and ideas.
