I had asked a question about backlinks in the following post.
Are Backlinks still valuable for SEO?
and a lot of members replied that the natural or quality backlinks are valuable, but natural backlinks are not.
Please explain with examples, what does natural or quality backlinks mean. I need the answer with examples.
#backlinks #natural #unnatural

Yes backlinks are still the most value part of SEO. Those who say otherwise, most likely suck at it, or are trying to sell you something else.

A link is a link - whether natural or un-natural. They both can have the same effects.

The difference is - a site with a natural backlink profile is less likely to affected by changes or harmed by penalties. People who engage in un-natural tactics, realize there is a high risk of doing so.

This topic has been discussed many times on this forum and is a bit too big of a question to answer just like that. I suggest using the search function at the top right of the page.

Always remember to go for quality backlinks. The way I see natural backlinks are where you are not trying too hard to get them.

For instance, if you post 500 blog comments in an hour, that to me isn`t natural and I don`t think search engines will respect you for it.

Natural back links which are coming from by submitting your website in free directories, bookmarking site, article sites, blog posts, forums and blog comments

Unnatural back link on which you have spent bucks i mean to say paid links by advertising, PPC, paid listing in web directories.

Web pages will often get a ton of natural backlinks when the content goes viral. Everyone is talking about it, linking back to the source of the content.

Unnatural backlinks often look like 5,000 no-follow wordpress blog comments pointing directly to your web page.

Can you rank by building backlinks in an unnatural manner? Yes, but you need high quality backlinks. Pages with authority. I measure this with seomoz page authority and domain authority. A more accessible method is to go by each page's page rank. Notice I said the page rank of each page. Not the page rank of the domain that the page resides on. Huge difference.

Making thousands of backlinks for a new domain is unnatural and Google detects it easily. Its clear that a new website that is not known, should not get thousands of backlinks in a week and if a webmaster does it, it will be known as unnatural backlink. But if you make i.e 30 backlinks weekly for your new domain , its natural. Also note that backlinks from quality websites can help your ranking.

An example of unnatural linking is having the majority of your links concentrated from one, or maybe two, different platforms. Like...if you practice blog commenting, whether you use automation or not, across WP blogs. You build a lot of links in the same manner. Your links when will come from one platform instead of many different platforms. This is an "unnatural" link scheme.

A "natural" link scheme would originate from across several platforms and be variable in content and anchor.
