If You Had To Estimate a %: Adcenter vs Adwords Traffic

In your experiences, how did the traffic from Adcenter compare to that of Adwords? Supposedly Bing/Yahoo has about half the US market share of Google, but it doesn't seem like it sends half the US traffic. It's been closer to 10% of the traffic I used to get from Google on nearly identical campaigns.

I have noticed that Adcenter impressions fluctuate a lot more wildly than Adwords when you set a limited budget or are not on the 1st page. I don't know why. The Aswords impressions pretty much remained steady from day to day.

In the US, facebook and google are neck and neck.
But worldwide, google far outdistances anyone.

Yahoo is in a shambles. MS once again, took something
down the toilet. Their market share for revenue
actually dropped. MS is not even a third of google's.
    US, that is.

Worldwide, as I said, google is just a monster.

Interesting tidbit from this, is that if you are a
United States marketer, facebook is not a bad
option, but I would suspect that the effectiveness
    of google is much better.

I would probably ditch adcenter and try facebook.

This is a change in my view from 2010.

In reality, it's not about traffic. Which converts better,
adwords or adcenter? If they both do decent, why
    not keep them both?

I've been meaning to get into Facebook, but I wanted to master search PPC first. Thanks for the advice.

In my experience the ratio of adcenter:google is closer to 1:9 in favor of google for US traffic for search only. I dont really know how comscore calculated a 35% US search market-share for Bing.

Outside the US i.e Canada, UK, Australia etc. adcenter is practically non existent.

The other thing you have to remember is that adcenter serves ads differently than adwords so you have to structure your campaigns properly to get the most traffic off adcenter. In particular, adwords broad match type is very different from adcenter broad match type.

Facebook is entirely different from search. As a social network, it is only effective for certain niches. Further, their platform still sucks big time much like adcenter. Right now, I feel facebook is better for branding and networking than it is for advertising.

Finally, google adwords is more than just search marketing, there is display network, youtube ads, mobile ads, re-marketing and audience targeting. so really any online/digital marketing plan would be incomplete without adwords.

Theres more options out there other that Adwords and Ad center. The fill rate is crucial when analyzing your earnings. you might be getting good enough eCPMs but if you have a low fill rate, its not really representative of how much money you are making. at Tapit we can provide fill rates of 90 to 100%, if most of your traffic is coming from the US. we give you the possibility to target your audience and block categories that may interfere with your current ads. There no exclusivity contract and you can always terminate our services at any time. So theres really no risk in trying it
