Adsense account disabled - how to appeal?

Hi Warriors,

I'm posting this question on behalf of my friend who just received the dreaded email from Google saying that his account has been disabled. He has contacted them twice via the google form, but only received the canned response without any reasons why his account was disabled.

Does anyone know how to appeal to Google or know of someone who might at least least give the reason why the account was disabled?

I've known my Australian friend for a number of years, and I know he doesn't do blackhat stuff or click frauds.

Any help or points is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Adrian

I haven't ever seen a case when Google allowed an adsense account to be re-instated...

It may have happened but I know of 3 or 4 people who had their's disabled and Google wouldn't let them back in..

Has your friend considered other text based ad display formats?.. google ain't the only gig in town for ads

    Peace

      Hi Jay,

Thanks for the speedy reply ... yes, I did suggest some of the alternatives, and he's looking at them.

However, Google has withheld about $3K in his account which he hope to get it back.

I wudn`t bother to appeal as Google won`t take u back.
Ask your friend to make a new account with a different alias and don`t do the same mistake as he did this time(cheat with google).

Was he able to cash out before or is this his first time? How many sites does he have? Does he employ some not allowed techniques such as placings images next to ads, etc?

      This is not true.

I got click bombed on two sites and had my account cancelled. I contacted Google and sent them all the ip addresses of visitors on the days I got clickbombed.

I told them that none of my friends or family knew what my sites were. I was also a little bit rude. 'All those rubbish automated spam sites out there and you cancel MY account?' And other stuff in the same vein.

They did reinstate me but I think your friend can kiss his $3,000 goodbye because they cancelled all my clicks up to the point I was banned, even those from before when the problem started.

      Martin

BTW Tell your friend to get the privacy option for all his sites and to use an alias for maketing them because, once somebody finds one of your sites, they can easily find all the others.

And that's not cheating google? Won't work - google's not that dumb.

First thing is to go through google's TOS to see if there is something that has been done that violates it or violates the spirit of the terms.

      Questions for your friend:

How old is his google account?
Is this $3k average earnings for him monthly?
Has he noticed any suspicious click activity? Strange site visits?
Has he put his sites or links to adsense sites on a traffic exchange?
Did he encourage clicks on ads in the text on his site?

Ordinarily, you cannot get an account reinstated. If it is an account that has been used for some time with no problems, he may have a chance of google reviewing it.

Would be best to do some analysis to see if he can pinpoint what might have flagged the account. Did he receive a warning email from Google in the past?

If his account is banned, it is doubtful he'll collect anything "due" as google says they return money earned by fraudulent clicks to advertisers.

Based on my own sorry experience, I'd say your buddy can kiss his account, and his $3k, goodbye.

Last year, I started seeing my content showing up on a string of scraper sites. Some of it mangled and mashed into someone else's content. When my Google alerts pointed to one of my articles, I'd turn the site in to Google.

This did not sit well with the operator of the sites, I guess. They started click-bombing the site they scraped the articles from, and I got the note from big G.

I went through their appeals process, explained the situation on their appeal form. Got back a polite note that said that even if I had done nothing wrong, I was still a risk to their advertisers and the account would remain disabled.

Fortunately, they only confiscated a couple of hundred dollars.

I switched the site to Yahoo, and while the income is still less than it was with Adsense, the per-click payout is actually quite a bit higher.

I appealed successfully and this is what happened.

          1. I went to the Adsense forum at Webmasterworld and pmed one of the Google staff who was active there.
          2. He referred my case to another colleague at Google who got back to me.
          3. I told the contact that I was an Adwords advertiser and was strongly against click fraud. I would also cooperate in anyway I can.
          4. After a couple of days, my account was reinstated without further questions.

I still don't know what happened. I think it was a forum on the Sony PSP which went from a normal of 200 visitors to 2000 on that day. I presume that there was a major games launch for the Sony PSP.

            Thanks for all the replies.

My friend did not engage in any fraudulent activities nor did he tried to cheat google.

You can see his views here:

Derek, would you mind sharing the url of the adsense forum you mentioned above?

Would that make a great news story!

"Google bans priest for click fraud?"

(Note the very important question mark in the headline)

Maybe Father Dave should do a press release on this story if he doesn't get his account reinstated. Even if it doesn't spur Google into action he would get a lot more visitors to his sites.

His story sounds legit and being a priest his story should make a buzz. I think we should we help him by making his story viral in our blogs.

                    Google AdSense:

It is quite obvious who the Google staff is.

I would strongly advise your friend to take that post down during the appeals process, Google will not take kindly to it.

                        Hi guys,

This is Father Dave (Adrian's friend)

I deeply appreciate all the advice you've given, as I greatly appreciate Adrian posting it for me (me being a shy type)

                        A few points of response:
                        • In terms of the age of my account, I think I was with them for about 4 years.
                        • In terms of 'was this my average monthly income?', no. I've been building it over the years. It took me a year to generate the first $100, and I was quite proud to have gone from $100 per year to $100 per day.
                        • In terms of how I did that, there were no black hat techniques.
I've built multiple article sites around topics of interest to my online community (at www.fighting-fathers.com) and other article sites related to my offline work (eg. information on drug addiction).

I increased the income significantly by using both Adwords and other PPC's about a year ago, and have been gradually scaling that up to the point where I was hitting the $100 per day mark. The $3k though was certainly my largest earn up to this point (and cost me close to $2k in PPC clicks)

As to taking down my post, no. I don't expect to get my money back and I have no desire to 'work for Google' again anyway.

I figure if they do this to me they'll treat anyone this way and I don't want to deal with them further.

Having said that, I'd love to get my $3k back obviously, as it was vital to our work, but if that's not possible, I'd be glad to use my case to draw attention to what I consider to be grossly unethical trade practices.

It's the sort of thing I do through www.fatherdave.org anyway, and if anybody wants to help me by pushing my 'Why I Hate Google' article around, I'd be deeply grateful.

I believe this is what may have caused your account closure. Google forbids this method.

Yes this is called Arbitrage. Google allowed this long time ago but it sort of messed up the internet when user's did this for MFA's (made for adsense) sites. It resulted to poor quality of sites being displayed in Adwords. So to protect the Advertiser's interest, Google does not allow this anymore.

                                Datherdave,

As far as I know arbitrage is not expressly forbidden but they will close your account anyway. However, the e-mail they send out is different to those suspected of click fraud. There is ample notice for a start and they will release all your unpaid earnings. It goes along like this "We regret that your business model is incompatible with our standards, therefore we have decided to close your account and will pay all your unpaid earnings"

What I am more worried about is whether your community or parishioners may have clicked on your ads purposefully thinking that it will help you. This has happened to a lot of people and that is why I never give out my website addresses to any friends or relatives.

Anyway, I really do hope that you get reinstated.

                                Best of luck
